I watched as his tongue pressed against the side of his house. Nodding slowly a small chuckle escaped from his lips.
"Just wait till you find out what he really does to make money..." he whispered against my ear.
-
-

The loud sound of the dial tone rang against my ear. I catch myself trying to nitpick the skin against my cuticles as I waited for Eddie to answer the phone.

"Hey-"
"Hey beautiful. What are you up to?" Eddie asked calmly.

"Nothing, I just got home."
"From the smoke shop?"
"Yeah-"

"Hey listen, do you wanna do something? I can leave work early-"
"No. It's okay. I don't want you to miss work because of me." I tried dismissing the gesture.

"It's not a problem baby. This place won't burn down without me." I heard his laugh through the phone. The pit in my stomach told me to ignore it.

"I don't want you to miss out on any money-"
"You know money isn't an issue for me baby." He responded back.

"Hey what do you do for work." I asked promptly.
"What do you mean? I thought I told you."

"Nope."
"Okay. I'm the manager of a car repair shop." His response was short of a sigh, almost as if he didn't want to give out this information.
"Oh."

"Let me take you out tonight-"
"It's okay Eddie, Sarah and I have plans." I lied bitting the edge of my finger.

I sat there in my car, parked in my driveway I wasn't sure where I was going to go. I didn't want to let Billy get the best of me, especially in this new relationship. I knew the type of person he was. Although he was an asshole he always seemed to tell the truth when it needed to be said.

What did he mean what Eddie actually does for work?
"Hello-"
"Sorry-What did you say?" I mumbled.

"I offered to get you and Sarah some dinner tonight." Eddie repeated himself.
"No, it's okay. But thank you I appreciate it." I sighed softly.

"Are you okay?" He asked casually.
"Yeah-I promise. I'll call you later okay?"
"Okay."

"Have a good day at work." The muffled words barely escaped my lips as I continued to bit the edge of my nails.
"Thank you." He sighed in defeat.

Ending the phone call I tossed my phone on the passenger seat. Sighing in defeat my hands pressed against the steering wheel.

I knew if I wanted answers I would have to go and search for themself. And that's exactly what I was going to do.

I thought to myself, who would know Eddie better than anyone? He seemed to mention that he didn't have much family. Dustin might be too young to be exposed to whatever he was hiding.

"Steve." I sighed in relief. He must know something, they seemed to hang out a lot. If not Steve then Robin.

I only knew of one other place to find then besides the bar.

-
My car came to a halt as I parked in front of the coffee shop. I was unsure of what car Steve drove so I was only going off a small glimpse of hope.

The sound of the bell connected to the door rang across the shop. Causing two employees to turn around and greet me with the casual "Welcome in."

It was the only two employees I had hoped to see.
"Hey Lexi." Robin smiled at me as she hung her arms across the screen.

"Hi Robin." I smiled.
"No Eddie today?" She asked.

"No, but I was wondering if I could sit down with you guys and ask you something?" I asked nervously, thankfully my hands were covered by the counter.
