TW: Blood, cruelty

~Iris's POV~

Octavia pulled me out of the door and I looked back once, noticing the terror in Onyx's eyes, which multiplied by ten as the door closed. The guards that were outside of the door were gone, most likely dismissed. Octavia let me go, turning to face me.

"Look, I'm not trying to be mean or anything but I don't particularly trust you," She said giving me a hard stare, "You're a threat to Onyx and I would be lying if I said she wasn't like my sister and I don't care about her."

I smiled, "I get it, I would do almost anything for my brother."

Shit, I forgot to tell my brother I have to fight, he's not gonna be happy. I frowned, shit, I have to fight the champion, this could ruin everything. She's our main target, she's the one we're worried about. There's two reasons why we need her, first of all, she's tortured here like the rest of them so we need to get her and the others out, second, she could become a powerful weapon for the other side.

"Should we go back or just wait for her?" I asked lowering my voice a bit.

"I'm going to wait for her. I'm worried that freak will do something to her," she responded grimacing.

"He does things to her? Like what?"

"I can't tell you, it's not my secret to share."

I nodded in understanding, shifting side to side as we waited for her. To be honest, I like Onyx so far, she's strong and defiant, that'll help us a lot. She's hopefully and probably just as strong as me or my brother in weapon or hand-to-hand combat without magic or special abilities.

"Hey, Octavia," I said in a low voice. She looked over at me, tilting her head.

"Remind me to go over something with everyone back at the Gathering Hall or wherever we're going." She nodded.

"Probably better if we go to someone's room, it's a lot more private," she whispered back.

The door opened behind us, making me jump at the sudden noise. I turned, seeing Onyx standing there with a confused expression.

"What are you doing?" She hissed quietly, "you're supposed to be back at the Gathering Hall."

"We're waiting for you idiot," Octavia said back giving her an exasperated look.

"Thank you but don't, you could get in serious tro-" She whispered breaking off and staring behind us.

"What are we whispering about?" Someone asked behind us in a mocking voice. I spun around, two guards were standing there. Both had vibrant hair and tan skin, most likely Crystal elves, with their slightly pointed ears and crystal sheen. Traitors, they're going against their king and queen.

"Mind your own goddamn business," Onyx spat giving Octavia a meaningful look. Octavia gave her a sad but grateful look and took my hand, pulling me away. I looked back, the two guards were saying something to her their hands on their batons.

"What's going on?" I asked Octavia as she led me down a hallway releasing my hand. She threw a worried look behind us.

"She's buying us time." Oh, shit, I hope she's going to be ok. I've barely met her and I'm already wanting to hurt anyone that threatens her.

"I hate it, those are some of the meaner guards, Ryca and Silver. I won't argue with her but I wish she wouldn't do stuff like this." She looked back one more time before leading me into the Gathering Hall.
