Emma pov:
2 weeks until Christmas and the work from Toto has started to come in at a steady flow. It continues to be flirty between us and I feel like the dynamic has changed in to a more serious kind of flirting than before. It's no longer as innocent. Maybe it was just my way off feeling it, but I do really feel like it is more of a serious kind of flirting. I tried to not pay any attention to it as he probably just saw it as the innocent way its always been like. I mean, he's happily married with a wonderful kid with his wife. Susie was a great stepmom to his other kids as well. I just had forget the way he made my knees go weak when he said something flirty.
I was currently sitting with an email regarding a possible investment for Toto when I heard my phone go off. Looking at the screen I saw Gaby's name. I answered with a "Hi babe". "Hey babe, you still up for lunch for today? I have sooooo much gossip I wanna tell you" she basically shouted in my ear. I could hear the excitement in her voice as she spoke. Her voice got a bit squishy and high when she got excited. "Darling, you know I am. You've dubbel checked three times today already" I said laughing.
Gaby was one of the biggest control freaks I've ever meat. The only one I knew with a bigger controlling behavior was me. It could sometimes be a bit annoying but thats probably what other people though was annoying with me as well. So I don't really have the right to complain about it. I loved Gaby with all of my heart. It was nice having a close friend at the paddock and someone that understood me. And especially someone who did the something as me, we can relate on a whole other basis than I can with anyone else.
"I KNOW, I just wanted to make sure. I'll see you in an hour at our usual spot." She said to me. I was actually quite excited to get out of my apartment. I've spent everyday here since we got home. The only time I ever left was when I got to the grocery store or to the gym. There was no need to go in to the office for me until after new year. So putting on some real clothes and socialize felt good. "I'll see you there babe" I said to Gaby before we hang up.
With only an hour left before we are supposed to meet, I decide it was time to get ready. I showered and washed my hair this morning so I didn't need to jump in the shower. I opened my drawer where I have all of my makeup and stared apply my foundation, before I moved on to the bronzer and then the highlight and at last my setting powder. I finished off with some mascara and then sprayed some setting spray on top of it all.
I decided to put on a pair of dark jeans and a light blue blouse. I put my hair in a ponytail and a put in a pair of small diamond earrings. Realizing I had about another ten more minutes before I needed to leave, I went back to the computer and read the last of the investment proposals that Toto sent me earlier this morning. It was a small startup company that was focusing on a manufacturing a special kind of gearbox. Their pitch was surprisingly good for being a start up company.
Toto would probably want to have a meeting with them, so I started writing on an email back to Toto, suggesting he'd look in to it and see what he though about them. If he'd like them, I'll set up a meeting with them. The ten minutes ran away and I had to leave. I went to the hall, grabbing my headphones from my bedroom on my way. I put on some adidas sneakers, and a black leather jacket. I took a small black bag and put in my wallet and headphones in it, then I grabbed my keys and went outside. I locked the door and put my keys in to my bag before I started walking down to the place Gaby and me always went to.
The walk was pleasant, the sun was shining and the first snow had just started to fall, meaning the ground had a small layer of withe. I started to regret my choice of shoes but I was gonna spend the time indoor so my feet wouldn't be freezing for long. I was lucky I had brought my sunglasses with me as the sun was quite strong.
The restaurant was a cozy and authentic Italian place that was owned by an Italian family. The old man that opened the restaurant many years ago was probably around 80 years by old now, but he still spent every day in the restaurant. He didn't work much, he just made sure the guest and the staff were happy. His daughters were running the everyday business now. They were all very sweet and lovely people.
I didn't see Gaby as I walked in, so I asked the waitress named Amanda for a table. She gave me Gaby and mine's favorite table in the corner. The place was half empty but would probably start filling up with people soon as lunch hour was about to start. As I waited for Gaby to arrive I ordered myself a glas of white wine. I already knew I was gonna order their pasta pesto. It was amazing and I could sometimes dream about it when we where away during the season. Amanda brought me my wine directly and I took my first sip as Gaby walked through the door.
She saw me immediately and made her way over. She was wearing a long black knighted dress, and a pair of boots. She was looking great as always. She gave me a big hug before she sat down at the table. "Okey, one glas of wine is not gonna be enough, we're gonna need to oder a whole bottle. I have so much I need to tell you!!!!" She said excited. I laughed and said "Really, is it that juicy?" and gave her a wink. "Omg, yes! I've been wanting to tell you forever but I wanted to tell you personally."
Amanda was at our table as soon as she saw Gaby sat down. "What can I get you guys today?" She asked us sweetly. "I'll have my normal pasta pesto" I replied. "Me too, and could we get a bottle of red wine as well?" Gaby said. "Of course, I'll be back shortly ladies" Amanda said with a bright smile on her face.
"Okey, spill the tea". I couldn't wait any longer to hear the gossip. Gaby and me always had tones of gossip to talk about as there where always something going on at the paddock. There was always something going on. It could be about someone changing teams, someone sleeping together or a breakup. "Okey, but you have to promise you won't tell any one!" She gave me serious look. I knew that look, it meant that whatever she was about to tell me was not something that I was supposed to know. "I promise"
She opened her mouth just as Amanda came with our wine. Gabys mouth closed as fast as it opened. Amanda put down our wine glasses and opened the bottle. She let Gaby tase the wine before pouring up our glasses. "Your food will be out shortly" Amanda said before leaving us.
"He's getting a divorce" she said in a low voice. "Checo?" I asked. "No, not Checo! Christian!" "Wait what? Seriously?" I was surprised, it was not something I'd expect happening. They seemed to be doing so well. "Yeah, they've been struggling for a while now. Christian wanted them to do therapy but she already had made up her mind." We were speaking quietly as we didn't know if anyone was aware of who we were talking about. It's better to be safe than sorry. It did explains the whole flirting thing that happened at the gym the other week with Christian.
"But I thought they were on good terms? It seems like they're in love when cameras are around" I said. She replied with "yeah, that's all a play" "How have the kids taken it?" I asked out of curiosity. "They still don't know. They're gonna tell them during Christmas."
A/N: Next chapter will continue with more from their lunch. And a huge thank you for every singel one of you that reads, votes and comments! It means the world to me<3
