Christian Horner pov:

Me: Have you got the papers from the divorce attorney yet?

The text that I sent to Gaby was short, simpel and straightforward. Gaby knew what I was going through. She knew I wasn't in my best mood and probably wasn't gonna be for a while. She was almost as shocked as me when she found out Geri wanted a divorce. But she told me she'd take care of it. It felt good knowing I didn't need to have all the communication by myself with Geri and the attorney. I basically just needed to sign the papers.

I knew Geri and I was going through a though time but I didn't expect her to want a divorce. She told me the moment I got home after the season ended. She didn't wanna try any more while I really wanted us to go to therapy together to try to make things work again. She had already made up her mind and just wanted to leave. Which was her choice, and leaving me heartbroken. I fell out of love ages ago but we still had a family and a life together. I really wanted to try.

When the kids get home from school for Christmas, we've decided we where gonna celebrate Christmas together and then tell them we are gonna get divorced. As for the press, we are gonna go public with the divorce after new years. Guess boarding school was a good thing after all for the kids. They didn't need to be home to hear all the fights we've had and go through the process of the divorce. For now, everything was good and they could focus on school. As for after Christmas, they would probably just wanna leave and go back to school. I have a hard time seeing them wanting to spend time with their divorced parents.

Gaby: No, I'll send them over as soon as I get them. Is there anything else I can do for you?

Me: Thanks, not as I can think of right now!

I couldn't stand being in the house any more so I decided to get my ass to the gym. I wanted to just clear my mind and do something that didn't remind me of my failed marriage. I put my coffee mug in the sink, went up stairs to my closet and got changed. I toke some fast steps down the stairs and out to the hallway. I grabbed my car keys that was in the pocket of my jacket I had the other day when I went grocery shopping, and then went out to my car. The ride wasn't long, only about 10 minuts, which wasn't that far.

I walked in and saw Emma. Or was it Emelie? No, I'm pretty sure its Emma, Gaby talks about her all the time. We made eye contact and I gave her a smile and a small nod. She returned the smile as I walked in to the lockers room. She is one of those women thats just beautiful. She's beautiful with out even trying. Basically every guy on the paddock desires her. She smart, beautiful, funny, sexy, confident, gentle and kind. She is what everyone wants and seeks in a relationship and in a partner. I can't wrap my head around how she's still single. She can pick and choose who every she likes but somehow, despite every attempt from anyone around the paddock, she always turned them down.

As I walked out of the locker room, I hoped the treadmill next to her would be free. I had the luck on my side as I saw it being one free next to her. I made my way over and climbed on. I couldn't keep myself from checking her out. Apparently I wasn't as discreet about it as I though I was. I heard her say "You see something you like?" while she gave me a wink. "As much as you probably like your view of me" I answered her, hoping she wasn't gonna be offended by my straightforwardness.

Well, thats bold of you to assume I enjoy my view" she replied, making me smirk. My confidence grew and I replied with "Why wouldn't you? This is the best view you can get". That made her laugh a lot, which made me oddly satisfied.

"Your Totos assistant, right?" I asked her to keep the conversation going. I knew she was and she probably knew that I knew that as well. I just didn't want the conversation to stop. "Yeah, thats correct" she replied with a small smile. "I've seen you around the paddock, and Gaby won't shut up about you." I simply stated. It was true, Gaby was always talking about Emma and what they where doing. They seemed like they're great friends.

"Ahhh, so this isn't the first time you've been checking me out?" she said smirking. I was so busted, of course it wasn't the first time. Everyone was drooling over her at the paddock, including me. "Am I not allowed to enjoy myself? Its a pleasure checking you out around the paddock" I answered her, seeing her smirk grew wider as I said it. "Of course you are, guess I know where to find my pleasure on the paddock as well". When sh said that I gave her a wink and a small laugh.

"Its time for me to head home, nice seeing you." She told me after a while. We said some quick goodbyes and I checked her out one last time as she left the gym. I knew she was somewhere around Gabys age, making her around 25, maybe 27. Not really sure. She was young, a lot younger than me. So obviously this flirting was only for fun.

I finish off my workout by lifting some handels before heading home. After a nice shower I made myself comfortable on the couch, with a glas of red wine. It's Saturday after all. I knew it was a bad thing but I decided to go in to Geri's instagram and scroll through some old pictures. Its an old rabbit hole thats not gonna lead anywhere good. I know I'm just gonna get sad and frustrated but I couldn't help myself.

I only got myself to blame, but sure enough, here I was an hour later desperate, frustrated and sad at myself. I missed her and wanted her back, but I didn't want our relationship. I was confused. All I knew is that I'm not functioning if I don't have someone to support me by my side. I hated being alone and not having someone to share my life with.
