The next day as I bid my mother goodbye at the airport, I made my way through security. As I got on the plane and it took off, I felt nauseous. My fear of heights clicked in when I saw the ground disappearing from under us. I shut the window and held my breath, staring at the ceiling. Once steadily flying the flight attendant got up and started taking on what to do if in an accident. Great. Thanks lady, I'm feeling 1000x better. And then my ears popped. Great. Just dandy.
The old woman beside me gave me a slight smile. "First time flying?" She asked.
"Yeah." I responded nervously tapping on the back of my turned off phone. She dug around in her purse and pulled out a small package of mint gum.
"Here, chew this. It'll stop your ears from popping." She handed me the small square piece. I should've been careful on who I trusted, but she seemed harmless, so I took it.
"Is this your way of telling me I have bad breath?" I laughed.
"No." She chuckled and extended her right hand for me to shake. "I'm Amelia."
"Emily." I shook her old wrinkled hand. "So what brings you on this flight to Vancouver?" I asked.
"Going to visit some family. My granddaughter just gave birth to her first child a week ago." She said with pride. "What about you?" Amelia asked.
"I'm going for an audition for the TV show Supernatural."
Amelia gasped. "I watch that show all the time!" I was surprised at her reaction. I didn't think anyone over 50 watched it. I know, that's a little stereotypical of me.
"What role?" she asked in amazement.
I paused and cleared my throat. "Uhm, Deans daughter."
"That's amazing! I could be sitting with a future star!" She clasped her hands together. I giggled at her enthusiasm.
"Hardly. There is a slim chance I'd actually make it. I'm just going because it's not every day you can say you made it to the finalist auditions." I blushed. Amelia who I presumed to be around sixty five, just simply shook her head and smiled.
"Why just go for the experience? Why not kick ass at that audition while gaining the experience?" She asked. I was shocked by the words that came out of her mouth.
"Good point." We continued chatting the whole plane ride about her daughter and mostly about our favourite characters on Supernatural. Our favourite was Castiel. We both shipped Destiel, and thought Wincest was just down right disgusting. "They're brothers! Of the same blood! It's just wrong." She gagged.
I liked Amelia. I liked her enough that we promised to visit each other again when we got back to Ontario. I got off the plane and made my way through the air port and down an escalator. I was looking for my ride. I looked around until I saw to complete morons wearing hoodies, sunglasses and sweatpants. One was very tall, and had long hair that poked out of his hood, and the other very short. I could recognize them anywhere. They were holding up two pieces of paper. Jensen held one that read "future daughter" and Jared held one that said "future niece". I quickly grabbed my phone and snapped a picture of them.
I walked up to them dragging my suit case behind me. "S'up pops?" I asked.
"Hey kid." Jensen gave me a quick hug that made my body go into shock mode and goosebumps appeared. "Seriously? You have met me once, and we've chatted many times. You'd think you wouldn't have the jitters." He complained releasing me.
"Sorry." DUDE IF YOU COULD PLACE YOURSELF IN MY SHOES FOR ONE SECOND HERE AND LIKE REALIZE IM TOTALLY FANGIRLING ON THE INSIDE, THAT'D BE GREAT. "Still a bit nervous. After all, you are Jensen flipping Ackles." I was mentally screaming as I said this.
