Chapter One
The castle has always been more of a daunting prison to the omega, than that of a home. The large and luxurious halls of the palace are made out of only the finest marbles and stones that the kingdom of Adrestia has to offer. Paintings of all the Jung ancestors spread amongst the perfect walls, painted by only the best artists in all the lands.
The oversized stone structure is filled with hundreds of guards and servants ready to take orders and attend to any and every need of the royal inhabitants inside of it. Wooyoung has always felt out of place in such an extravagant place such as his family's palace. The walls of the castle have always made him feel lonely and claustrophobic despite the spacious and extravagant architecture of the place.
He's always been given any materialistic thing he's ever even thought about wanting, but no matter how many items of fine silk or new books he is given by his elder brothers, he still yearns for something that no materialistic items could ever come close to.
The omega stands at one of the highest peaks in the whole palace, the tower being abandoned centuries ago by the royal guards. The peak being no use for their militia with the way it viewed out into the forest of the kingdom, rather than where any normal threats would come from.
Instead, it's the perfect spot for Wooyoung to spend most of his time. Staring longingly out at the outskirts of the kingdom, the outstretches of forest and trees that he longs to explore, dreaming of a day when he will be able to see it from more than just his little tower.
He knows such a day will never come for him though. Being born an omega prince made sure of that. Stuck in his beautiful cage he is only ever able to stare off at where he longed to go without ever truly being able to achieve it.
After all a cage is still a cage no matter how many luxuries and beauties given to you in it. He longs to see the world, meet people outside of who his family choses for him to meet. Live his life without the restrictions of being royalty.
Instead, he is made to stay inside his perfect little cage and read his little books about adventure, when such an adventure or romantic love story will never be in the cards for him.
His fate was chosen for him from a very young age, way before he ever even presented as an omega. Before he even knew what things like marriage and mating even meant. Being betrothed to the neighboring kingdom's son way before either of them even presented was probably the most foolish thing his parents have ever done as rulers.
There were so many ways things could have ended up going horribly wrong in those circumstances. Both princes could have presented as alphas, never to be able to produce an heir between each other and always being at each other's throats with different opinions and overbearing alpha pheromones.
Or worse yet both omegas, never able to truly satisfy each other and make their kingdoms proud by doing the only thing they're good for. After all, an omega's only obligation in life, for their family and kingdom, is to produce as many heirs as possible.
Luckily, for both kingdoms none of that had occurred. Instead, Wooyoung presented as an omega about a year before his betrothed had his own presentation. He had always been a social butterfly as a kid. Always curious about everything and overly cuddly and affectionate. It wasn't really much of a surprise when he finally presented officially as an omega at the age of fourteen.
