Chapter Three

The throne room is in chaos. Cacophonous noise spreads throughout the room, everyone is in an uproar over the current complication that has arisen in joining their two kingdoms together as official allies. Guards from both royal families are spread around the room trying to keep the peace between the two kingdoms as they feud back and forth over whose fault the omega's infamy against his kingdom is to fall upon.

The throne room hasn't seen this much chaos since the Great Omega Scandal of around a hundred years ago. That's when Jung Hyunwoo, an ancestor of the royal family, had paraded as an alpha to take the throne. Back then he had been his family's only heir, his father having passed away slightly after he was born in a war between kingdoms.

The decision was made early on in his life, way before he even presented, that he would be the heir to the throne, no matter what. Being raised to fight and act like an alpha king did absolutely nothing to fight off the natural fate of what the male's true nature and sub-gender was.

No matter how strong he became, how many muscles he managed to produce all across his body, how commanding he learned to be, there was nothing to do to change such a fate of what was set in stone from the moment he was born. After all, nothing can teach a predator how to not be a predator, or a prey to not be a prey. It was all about basic instinct and gene makeup, and it just turned out that Hyunwoo's true makeup was that of the lowest sub-gender.

Even so, the fact that he didn't present as an alpha was kept a secret. Only his few personal and most trustworthy guards knew the truth. He was a ruthlessly, fierce warrior and leader, despite being the last on the hierarchy level. He never let his sub-gender make him anything less than what he was, the rightful king of his kingdom.

That is how he managed to fool everyone for so long, after all.

Nobody questioned his authority, and he ruled for years until the truth had finally come out. Hyunwoo hid his real sub-gender even during his first pregnancy. He carried his future heir inside of his own stomach during countless battles, not allowing such a small obstacle, as carrying a child, to elude him from taking on all the responsibilities of being a great king.

The birth to the future heir of their kingdom was announced like every other grand feat of the royal family. Hyunwoo stood in front of the kingdom, only hours after giving birth, his newborn baby boy held in his arms, as he proclaimed him as the future ruler of Adrestia.

The people of the kingdom were easily fooled to think that Hyunwoo wasn't the one who had given birth to the heir. After all, Hyunwoo was told to have several consorts, all only for show, of course.

It was only on the day that his son turned fourteen and presented as an alpha had the truth finally come out. The kingdom had been furious back then. Having been lied to for years and being led around by an omega of all things.

The story of their great-great-great grandfather is one that Hoseok always loved hearing as a kid, the fierce omega was definitely someone to look up to. He would always send Wooyoung to bed with a story of how their ancestor had defeated an adversary from a nearby kingdom, or stood up for what he thought was right, pushing for equal rights for everyone even back in such a bigoted time period.

The omega loved hearing those stories, bringing joy to his little brother and having him unashamed of his sub-gender. Thinking of such times almost brings tears to Hoseok's eyes as he thinks about the current situation.
