Chapter Six
The rainforest is rather silent in the late hours of the afternoon, most of the animals that are out and about during the day getting ready to settle down for the night before the nocturnal varieties come out to play. The normal racket of the day of the songbirds chirping and monkeys flinging from tree to tree having dissipated as the animals are starting to retire into their homes.
The sound of hooves against dry dirt and rock is the only thing that can be heard as the three alphas make their trek along the stone path before them. The long stretch of path going on for miles, having been carved almost three generations in the past. This man-made trail leads all the way from the castle to the very edge of the kingdom leading to the sea. The same place that is their first destination on the journey they have embarked upon.
It's been a few days since they started on said journey in finding the runaway omega and talking him into coming back home with them safe and sound. They are just now growing near the tiny village in which the last known sightings of the boy had been, but none of them truly had hope that the omega is stupid enough to stay put after getting spotted by the guards.
"Do you really think he's still hiding in Scylla?" Jaehyun asks from his spot on top of his horse. A beautiful white and brown speckled Clydesdale that he's personally raised from just a pony. The horse has never taken him on such a long journey as this before, but there's always a first time for everything. Just like all the horses in the palace his own stead has been trained for such tasks as long journeys and wars, so this was no big challenge for such a mare.
Hoseok only sighs from his spot atop his own practically identical horse. They both came from the same sack, making it only right that each one go to the two eldest, alpha princes. "I don't think so, but it's the best place to start to possibly find clues as to his whereabouts and where he may have gone from there."
Jaehyun only hums at the words, turning to look at the alpha on the other side of his brother who has been mostly silent throughout the whole journey. Apart from answering Hoseok's questions, or taking his orders, he just sits there with a brooding look upon his face. Almost as if the alpha really could care less about the journey that they have embarked upon and would rather be anywhere, but there.
"Are you sure you wanted to even come with us?" Jaehyun asks the alpha, sending him an inquiring look with one of his eyebrows raised in emphasis to his question.
Namjoon turns towards the younger alpha with a small sigh, his own pure white clydesdale stood just as tall as the others, but held a more confident grace to it than that of its counterparts. This stead having galloped into plenty of wars and peerless journeys much worse than this one, so it is rather used to the grueling arts of heavy labor and war.
"It is my duty to accompany his highness Hoseok to wherever he may go," he tells the younger simply, not paying him too much more attention as he turns back to the path before them, having decided that that was the end of their brief conversation.
Jaehyun lets out a disappointed huff at being blown off in such a way by the guard, but quickly gets over it as he turns back towards his elder brother. "How long until we make it to town?" He whines out, having never been on such a long journey as this before and becoming rather anxious.
Jaehyun has been on several trips to other kingdoms, but those were always spent in luxury. Traveling in a horse drawn carriage with comfortable silk padded seats. They would also stop to rest at least once a day, getting a nice rest within only the finest taverns along the way.
