Apocalypse

Ambush

"I can't believe I'm getting to see my brother and dad after 4 years." Avi mumbled.

"It's gotta be exciting." Trixy grinned.

"Exciting and nerve racking." She sighed. She heard snarling from their right and shot a zombie that had charged at them. "Ambush!" She cried, the four older ones making a circle around Isaac to protect him.

Shots were fired as they made their way to a bridge that would lead them into town, and it began to crumble under Avi after everyone else was across.

"AVI!" Danny cried as she fell through the broken bridge. Bella stayed on the bridge with Isaac while Danny and Trixy went down for avi, who's leg had broken in the fall.

"My leg!" A zombie was narrowing in on avi. Her gun was just out of her reach, and she couldn't walk, much less run. She was cornered.

"Avi!" Danny called, trying to reach her. He fired a shot, but missed its head and hit its arm instead, not enough to kill it.

Avi reached her arms out, trying to hold the zombie back...and failing. The zombie bit down on avi's neck, just moments before Danny shot it in the head. Danny ran to her side as she began to writhe in pain and agony.

"No.. you were bit.." He looked at his infected friend, tears forming in his eyes.

"Go..!" Avi ordered as she groaned in agony. She was starting to turn, and they couldn't save her. "Take.. take care of them..!"

Danny nodded his head. "I will. I'm sorry.." He got to his feet and grabbed his cousin. "Trix, we gotta go!"

"No! Not yet!" She fought, and looked at Avi once more before giving her a kiss on the forehead. "I love you..!" She called as they were running, and avi's transformation was complete. Avi was a zombie.
