JOHN MCHALE. I felt like I was in Hell. Darkness was all around me, there was no sense of peace, or happiness for the matter. I would run with my feet yet stumble with my mind, and with every breath a new intrusive thought would make space in my head. I could see Hera's shadow moving closer and closer to a warehouse that was almost like a medieval castle; so enormous, ancient and gothic. She opened the door on the side of the larged locked garage door and tried slamming it on my face, I was quick enough to push it with my own hands and get inside as well, then I turned back and closed the door, it wasn't going to do much, but at least I knew that from there Hera would not escape.
We looked at each other and one began taking steps backwards while one took steps forward, we were in a duel of intimidation, there were no words for a while, it was just us trying to threaten each other with our eyes.
"You know I have a gun right?" Hera alerted as she walked backwards.
"You won't use it" I said "Otherwise you can go to jail for killing another person!"
"Is this about your father again?" She smirked.
"You know damn well everything I've been doing is because of him. My life turned to hell the minute you killed him and for what? Couldn't you let him go?"
"Letting go?" She laughed "You're young I don't expect you to understand the concept-of owning your actions!"
"Your father got into Daniel's house looking for a job-and we gave it to him-and then he snooped back to where we said he wasn't supposed to go!" She continued "No once forced him to go-he just did it himself-and he was ready to pay for that!"
"Why kill him? When you know he had a child? A family?" I cried abruptly "You are a monster!"
"And what about you? Huh? You think you're better than me? You have done as much as I've done! You're no different!"
"Oh I am..." I began to move closer to one of the boxes close to me "You'll surrender, and we both will turn ourselves in to the police. It's that simple!"
She nodded in disagreement, I knew she was going to be hard-headed about the whole situation, but I wasn't leaving the warehouse without her handcuffed like me. As our movements were recorded by our eyes, I swiftly moved my body towards the wood box at my right and grabbed a metal bar and swooshed across the air trying to knock Hera down as she grabbed her gun all at the same moment. We began a slow duel of dodging our threats and words that would spill like blood in a fight ring. Hera took her gun and waved towards me enough for me to move closer to the garage door, but it wasn't long until I pulled the gun out of her hands and threw it across the large empty room that wasn't so empty after all. Once the gun hit a barrel and fell on the ground, we were able to hear the sound of a liquid inside the barrel that we didn't know what it was. Judging by the looks of it, it was gasoline. In fact, there were hundreds of barrels scattered through the warehouse. I could feel the heat of the
invisible flames coming towards us, Hera began swinging her hands once again the attempts of hitting me, and for a moment I held myself from touching her, but then we locked our hands together in the air, moving from one side to the other, hitting the barrels softly and falling into the cold ground as we lose balance.
"I might be a monster-but it was you who burned that man's house!" Hera shouted while trying to stick me into the ground.
"We-" I struggled "-it wasn't us who burned the farm!"
"You expect me to believe it simply turned to ashes by nobody?" She began slapping my face harshly as I gave up.
As I received each slap, I started moving my hands closer to the gun that was on the ground. I wasn't going to use it, but hitting her head or something so she could black out was the best option. Hera noticed what I was going to do and kicked the gun even further than where we were, to another barrel close to a ladder that led to a slightly elevated level in the warehouse.
