[Cat's POV]

"Finally, you eat."

I look up from the bowl in front of my face to see Tony standing at the doorway. My eyes roll before I lean back down to continue eating the meat in front of me.

I feel like a fucking barbarian.

I put this off as long as I could make myself... but there comes a time when dying is not worth the humiliation of being forced to eat like an animal in front of your enemy. I'm strong, but I am not invicible.

So here we are.

"Are you ready to talk, Caterina?" Tony asks when I finish whatever little food was in the bowl. The man holding it walks away and out of the room.

The loud concrete bang of the door confirms that Tony and I are now alone.

My wrists and ankles are tied tightly to the wooden chair nailed into the ground beneath me in the middle of whatever room this is. It looks like a warehouse. I have had two days to try and figure it out. The sounds of trucks... the cement flooring... the huge doors... it all gives it away.

Tony walks up to me, pulling the chair from the corner behind him, the legs screeching on the ground.

"Have you decided to speak as well, Caterina?" He asks as he sits down across from me, his feet two feet from mine.

"I said I would be your prisoner, Tony, not your talking stick."

He clicks his tongue, smirking.

"You do not seem to understand me," he says.

"No, you don't understand me," I counter. "You have what you wanted. Wait for the hell it causes. But leave me alone in the meantime."

I look away toward the wall in the distance.

My chin is yanked forward, Tony's face now an inch from mine with his fingers digging into my face as he leans down in front of me.

"You should be begging, you stupid bitch," he seethes. I love that I can get to him so easily.

I keep my face as neutral as I can with his fingers starting to hurt my jaw.

"I will never beg you, Tony."

He huffs and pushes my face back as he lets go, pulling his chair closer to sit across from me.

"Why kill Paulie?" He asks, confirming everything I knew and told Enzo about them working together. Also proving it was my kill that set him off to take Stef.

I have two options now. Tell the truth, or be coy. For the sake of getting another meal today, I choose truth.

"He helped you sell me back to my father."

His eyebrows rise. Is he surprised? As much as Enzo chose not to see it, it was clear to anyone looking.

Everything with Paulie had been a scam. Well, maybe not the initial guns contract with Enzo, but everything after.

He knew who I was after that initial meeting. He was a dog with a bone. He wanted me. He probably asked around about me. He learned what he found was bigger than a piece of ass. That knowledge was power.

The warehouse hit always sat wrong with me. There were too many men there to be simply guards on patrol. They knew the hit was coming, probably from Danny, and put extra men there. They tried to kill Enzo that night, but we never found the shooter.

With him out of commission, they got me away from him. Tony's favour at his sister's store, Danny with me all day. Pablo finding me in the bathroom of the drugstore. Everything after.
