Season 2 Chapter 10: "Nebraska"

3rd Person POV

Once his car was parked, Jason got out quickly and speed walked over to the group who just got finished burning the walker bodies, taking off his mask.

Jason: "Does anybody want to tell me what the fuck happened while we were gone?!"

Rick walked over as Jason looked around at everyone.

Rick: "It was Otis. He and Hershel had a dispute earlier today and he showed Hershel the walkers aren't alive. He let the walkers out and we had no choice but to kill them all."

Jason sighed in annoyance before he became serious as Sophia got out of the car and walked up beside the vigilante.

Jason: "Did we lose anyone?"

Rick: "Carol is shaken up about the whole ordeal. She saw a walker that looked identical to Sophia and apparently it made her mind race through possibilities."

Jason: "Where is she now?"

Rick pointed to the camp area.

Rick: "She's in her tent."

Jason's POV

I nodded after Rick told me where Sophia was and rushed over to Carol's tent.

I kneeled down to look in from the entrance, seeing Sophia in her cot with Carol kneeling next to it.

"Carol? May I come in?"

Without an answer, I quietly entered the tent along with Sophia who went up to her mother.

Sophia: "Mom?"

Hearing her daughter's voice clearly roused Carol as the older woman sat up and faced Sophia, holding her daughter close to her.

I watched on as Carol sobbed softly into Sophia's shoulder, making me think what would have been if I failed to save Sophia.

3rd Person POV

Approaching the house Jason saw Rick, Andrea, T-Dog, Glenn, and Dale, making him sigh.

Andrea: "Is she okay?"

Jason nodded.

Jason: "For now. I'm going to check on her again later. But first, we need to do a sweep around the area. Make sure no walkers heard the gunshots you all popped off. We don't know who or what might have heard all the noise."

T-Dog: "I'll take Andrea and Glenn."

Rick: "I'll take Carl with me for a drive around the area."

Jason nodded.

Dale: "I'll stay and keep watch. Make sure none show up unannounced."

Jason: "Sounds good. I'll go inside and see if Beth wants to go for a drive. Get her mind off of shit."

Everyone nodded and Jason went inside, walking upstairs and seeing Hershel in his room with a solemn look.

The teen walked over with a look of regret.

Jason: "I heard about what happened. I'm sorry I wasn't here to prevent it."

Hershel: "It's not your fault, son. From what Rick had told me, you had to go get something important."

Jason nodded.

Hershel: "Then you are not at fault."

Jason sighed before he left, going to Beth's bedroom to see her laying on her side.
