Season 2 Chapter 1: "What Lies Ahead" Part 1

Jason's POV

"You know, the last injury I had was similar to yours. I had a bunch of glass in my shoulder and it took me almost 2 hours to get the shards out. But that was because I didn't have any help."

I took out another piece of glass from Sophia's leg, wiping the area with a disinfectant wipe which made Sophia cringe in pain a bit. She got this leg injury from when she tripped back at the CDC, getting glass shards in her leg.

Sophia sat in the passenger seat of the car with her leg on my lap so I could treat her injury.

Sophia: "What was it like being a vigilante?"

"At the time, I felt like I had a responsibility to protect innocent people. My father figure and mentor would never cross the line of killing people, because in his opinion he wouldn't be able to come back. So, to answer your question, it was eventful."

I took out the last shard of glass and wiped the wound with another disinfectant wipe before wrapping Sophia's leg with gauze and bandages.

"There. It should all heal within a week or two."

Sophia smiled before I smiled back.

"Come on. You're mother's probably worried about you."

She nodded and I got out of the car, helping her out of the car as Carol came over. The RV was smoking at the front which was only a clear indication that the radiator hose was done for. We've been stopped for a good 5 minutes because the entire highway was blocked by broken down cars, so I had plenty of time to deal with Sophia's wound.

Carol: "Thank you very much, Jason."

"It's nothing, Carol. I'm just doing the right thing."

Sophia: "Will my leg be okay?"

"Just take it easy when you're walking and it'll be fine."

Sophia nodded before walking away with Carol.

I just watched them walk away before seeing Shane drinking and bathing in water from a water storage truck.

"Hey, Shane! Fit what you can out of those in my car. There's an AC in the trunk to keep the water cold."

Shane: "Got it, brother!"

I then walked off when I caught the scent of rotting flesh in the wind, freezing in my tracks as I looked behind me, taking out one of my pistols.

I looked to Dale who seemed shocked to which I instantly looked to Rick.

Rick: "Oh, Christ..."

It was a herd of walkers.

Rick took off to find Lori and Carl while I made a dash for my car, sliding underneath just as the herd started to pass it. I held my knife out just in case as they passed by.

'Just can't catch a break, can we?!'

I caught a glimpse of Amy in the RV window ducking down from sight before I heard the noise of metal splitting flesh near the RV.

'I haven't seen T-Dog yet. He must have been injured.'

I looked to see Sophia under a car with Carl under another while Carol and Lori was across from them while Rick was nearby.

Soon the herd passed but I noticed one had went into the RV while another two lagged behind near the car Sophia was under.

Unfortunately she tried getting out at the wrong time to which one of the walkers tried to grab her, making her panic and scream.
