I wake up next to Stu. I get out of bed, running to Michaels room, seeing Randy sleeping on the bottom of the bed, and Billy and Sid cuddled up on the floor.
I grab a navy blue jumper from his closet, and quickly run out before I walk any of them up.
I change out of my pyjamas, and into my jumper and leggings. I throw on the same pair of nike airs that I wore yesterday. I sit at my vanity, starting to do my makeup.
I see Stu shift in the corner of my eye, and I look over to see him stretching. "Morning, babe." He smiles at me. "Morning." I mumble concentrating on my makeup. "What's wrong?" He asks, sitting up. "Nothing, just focusing." I smile. He nods.
"My dad should be back by three today. I'm also gonna go see Cotton with my mom." I say to Stu. "How long has it been since you seen him again?" He asks. "A year. I was scared to go and see I'm in jail." I say, finishing my mascara. I grab my hairbrush, and brush through my hair.
"Wanna go to the movies after you see Cotton?" Stu asks, coming behind me and crouching, wrapping his arms around me. "Uh, sure." I turn my head and kiss his cheek.
-
"Don't mess up my house, kids." My mom warns, before we walk out of the house. "Scared?" She asks, as she unlocks the car door. "Obvious?" I chuckle. She just nods.
"Don't be scared. He misses you." She tries to comfort me. "Mhm." I buckle up my seatbelt.
Mom pulls out of the driveway, and glances at me. "I know you like Stuart, Annie." She smiles. "What? No I don't." I lie."I've been around you for eighteen years, Anne. I know when your lying." She laughs. "I don't like him! It's just.." I shrug. "That's what I was like with your father, darling. In denial." She tells. "I'm not in denial, mom!" I get even more defensive. "So you do like Stuart?" She says. "Fine! Yes! I do like Stu!" I shout.
-
We pull up to the prison, and she parks the car. "Let's go." She unbuckles her seatbelt, and I do the same. I nervously get out of the car, and my legs feel like jelly, as I'm walking beside my mom.
"Don't be so nervous." She puts her hand on my shoulder. We walk in, and we're instantly met with an older woman, just a bit older than mom, with shorter hair, and a fed up look on her face. She's obviously tired of her job.
"What's wrong?" She asks, very unprofessionally. "I'm here to see Cotton Weary." She says. "Names." She slaps her gum. "Lorraine and Annabelle Duncan." Mom says. "Relation to the prisoner." She looks at us. "Sister and niece." Mom says, starting to get annoyed. "Different fathers?" She asks. "Excuse me?" My mom asks confused.
"Weary, Duncan. Different last names." She says in a 'duh' tone. "I'm married?" Mom says, showing her ring. "I haven't seen you before?" Mom says. "I only work Fridays, Sundays and Tuesdays." She says, once again acting like we should've known.
"C'mon." Mom leads me away. "She was a bitch." I chuckle. "Yeah. Don't swear!" Mom whisper shouts.
We get to where you can visit someone, and we sit down. Cotton walks out, and sits down. "Hi Lorraine." He smiles seeing her. "Hey Cotton. I brought Annie." She smiles gesturing to me.
"Holy shit! Annie? You've grown up so much!" He smiles. "Yeah, you look the same." I say, not really knowing what else to say. "So how's things guys? How's Richard and Michael?" He asks. "They're good!" Mom smiles.
-
We talked to Cotton for about an hour, but he had to go back to his cell, and he gave me and mom a hug.
"See. There was no need to be nervous." Mom smiles at me. "Yeah, not as bad as i thought." I shrug.
We get to the car, and we get in, buckling up. "Stu wants to go to the movies later." I smile to myself. "Oh yeah? What're you gonna watch?" She smirks. "I don't know. I'll let him pick." I say back to her.
-
"Belle, you ready?" Stu asks walking into my room. I was touching up my makeup. "Yeah." I stand up, making sure I looked ok. "You look beautiful, babe." Stu smiles. I walk over to him, pecking him on the lips.
I run downstairs, seeing my dad in the kitchen, talking with mom. "Dad!" I shout, running up to him, and hugging him. "Hey pip!" He hugs me back. "Mind taking me and Stu to the movies?" I ask. "Sure. When?" He takes a sip of tea. "Um, now?" I ask, hoping he can.
"Yeah, let's go. Get everything you need. I'll wait in the car." He smile, walking to the living, and to the front door. "Stu, let's go!" I shout excitedly.
-
"Thanks dad!" I say, as he's about to drive off. "Don't have TOO much fun kids!" He smirks, driving off. "What're we watching?" I ask, as we begin to walk into the theatre. "They're showing Child's Play, so I was thinking we could watch that?" He suggests. "Yes! I haven't seen that movie in forever!" I smile.
"Well, the first showing is in ten minutes, so we better hurry!" He says, starting to run. "Stu!" I say, running after him.
-
"This movie is so good!" We hear from behind us. "They're starting to piss me off." Stu whispers to me. I nod, agreeing. "I'd be so scared!" A squeaky voice says. Stu gets fed up, and turns around. "Shut the fuck up!" He shouts. The boy and girl both jump, and sit back, looking embarrassed.
"That was so violent." I chuckle.
