When they finally got out of bed, Aurum and Xelqua went straight to Watch over Ambis SMP with Gem. "Where were you two?" "Why," asked Xelqua, "do you assume we were together?" Gem gave them a pointed glare. "Fine," said Aurum, "we were just spending some time together. Is that so bad?" Gem sighed. "Just, try to get here on time tomorrow. Thank you."

The three of them sat down, ready to watch, as they did, day in, and day out. This time, though, something seemed amiss. Xelqua seemed more shifty than normal. His attention span was shorter, and he was fidgeting constantly. Several times Aurum grabbed his hand to try to stop it. It wasn't of much help, seeing as he would just pull away.

About halfway through the day, Gem finally snapped, asking Xelqua to cut it out. "I'm sorry! I don't know what's wrong. I just can't stay still at all. I'm trying, I promise." Gem sighed. "Fine. Just, try to calm down." That much didn't work. Eventually, though, Aurum got an idea. "Xelqua," he said, "why don't we spar? It seems like a decent way to get rid of excess energy." Xelqua nodded.

They stepped a bit back from Gem and the window, and both summoned a weapon to their side. They started sparing. They started equal enough, but it quickly turned quite heavily against Xelqua. After a few minutes, Xelqua found his weapon knocked out of his hand and Aurum pinned him to the ground.

Xelqua, desperately trying to salvage the situation, waved his hands about grasping at air, trying to find his weapon. He did. Just not in the way he expected. With a cry from Aurum, he found that he was A: no longer pinned to the ground, and B: had his sword in his hand. In fact, Aurum had a gash on his leg that he did not remember giving him.

"How did you do that," Aurum said, "that's never happened before." "I don't know," Responded Xelqua. He set his sword down and then gave his hand a flick. The sword moved. His eyes widened. He flicked his hand again, this time to the other side. The sword moved that way. "Oh fu-" "Xelqua? How did you do that," interrupted Aurum. "I don't know," repeated Xelqua. He swiped his hand up, the weapon following. He gave his hand a flourish, the sword responding perfectly.

"You look like a conductor," joked Aurum. "Much like Bellum did. The one who had the exact same power as you are exhibiting now," Gem butted in. That definitely worried all of them. "Hang on," said Aurum, "Xelqua, take my dagger." He handed the blonde-haired Watcher the weapon he had been using.

As soon as Xelqua made contact with it, it flew into the air to join the sword. He again gave his hands some swishes, the weapons responding perfectly. "That," said Gem, "is rather concerning. Try some more things." Xelqua moved his hands around some, the daggers reflecting it perfectly. Gem summoned his sword to his hand, and stepped in front of Xelqua.

"Fight me. Don't use your hands, just try to use your power. First to get the other to yield wins." Xelqua looked noticeably worried. He just found out he had these powers, and now Gem, one of the most prolific duelers the Watchers had ever known, besides maybe Bellum. He took a deep breath before raising his hands, the daggers hovering beside him.

Gem cocked an eyebrow, and waved Xelqua at him. Xelqua flicked his hands at Gem, the daggers flying toward him. Xelqua continued conducting them, mainly focusing on keeping Gem occupied, and away from him.

After a bit, Xelqua felt a rush go through him, and with that, a sharper sense of control over the daggers. He started whipping his hands around, and somehow, managed to corner Gem. While distracting Gem by floating one dagger in an obviously dangerous location, he used the other to disarm him.

Gem looked down at his now swordless hand, a look of alarm passing over his face. Xelqua, off of an instinct, flicked his hand again, and the sword previously wielded by Gem was now being used against him. His eyes widened, and his hands slowly went up, a gesture of surrender.

"What happened?" said Gem. "You suddenly just seemed to get ten times stronger. Also, can I not have two daggers and a sword aimed at me?" "Oh yeah," said Xelqua, letting the daggers drop to the ground, and putting the sword safely back in Gem's hand. "There you are." Xelqua walked back to the window, staring out at the players, who were currently engaged in fighting the Wither.

He felt another hand slip into his own, and give it a small squeeze. "I know what you're thinking," whispered Aurum, "don't worry. You're nothing like Bellum. You're infinitely better. You're my Grian. My sunshine. Nothing you do will ever change that. No power you get, no deed that you do. You're my light and my joy. That will never change."

Xelqua pulled him in for a hug, holding him tight. He didn't want to let go. He never wanted to pull away from the embrace of the smart, loving, handsome man in front of him.

Over time, it worsened. Xelqua tried to listen to Aurum. He tried to resist it. It was hard though. He slowly went mad as what felt like a little voice in the back of his head egged him on. He lashed out more, became more strict, and trained more.

He relaxed slightly around Aurum, but it wasn't by much. He became less easygoing, and started training more, and harder, honing his new power. He felt himself slipping away, something else taking him over. In his moments of clarity, he felt sorry. Not for himself, but for Bellum.

As Xelqua got harsher, the number of Watchers started to fall. About 50 people left, becoming "Lost Watchers." If Xelqua could have his way, he would have hunted down each and every one of them and returned them to the Watchers, but Aurum and Gem made him refrain from doing that.

Xelqua was ultimately fine with some of the Watchers leaving until he heard of one person's disappearance. He was training, with Aurum and Gem watching over Ambis, when a Watcher ran in. "Umm sirs," they said timdily. "What?" Snapped Xelqua, as Aurum and Gem turned around. "We have another deserter." "Well," snapped Xelqua, "who is it?" The Watcher looked terrified as they answered.

"Xanthous.

In other news, WTF. How is this book almost at 3k reads? I refuse to believe that. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.

In other other news, I have an Alt account now! Off the advice of my discord (discord.gg/k7fxJy6KYU) dedicated to taking YouTubers out of context. Go follow them at @OutOfContextYoutube

That's all, thanks for reading. (If you enjoyed, the vote button is free, and, if you aren't following me, go for it. It would be amazing to hit 100 by the end of the year. No pressure though!)
