Rose's POV

The boy comes back the next morning, winded, straining under the weight of a full basket. He puts the basket down and starts coming towards me. I look at him before standing up. He gulps before taking a deep breath and continues on.

"I have a plan to get the night fury flying again." He says spiking me intrest. "But to do this plan I need your help." He continues. I nodded not saying anything still. "Your in?" He asked making me nod. "OK. Um, what I want you to do is detract the night fury so I can put this on his tail." He said showing me what looked to be a fin.

"Toothless." I said still looking at the tail. I finally look him in the eye before saying, "the night furies name is Toothless." He nods when he understands what I'm saying.

"Um, my names Hiccup, I-if you were wondering." The boy that I now know as Hiccup said.

"Well Hiccup, I'm Rose. And this is Crystal." I said pointing behind me to her.

"OK, well, um, I have some fish here for Toothless and if you want, some for Crystal as well." Hiccup said pointing to the basket.

"No its alright, me and Crystal have already eaten but Toothless hasn't since he wakes up later then us." I said to him making him nod.

Hiccup walks back over to the basket and clicks the scale he found (like a jar top). And Toothless approaches, sniffing him.

"Hey Toothless. I brought breakfast. I hope you're hungry."

Hiccup drops the basket and kicks it over. Fish spill out exciting Toothless even more as me and Crystal sit down again and watch the two to make sure nothing goes wrong.

"Okay, that's disgusting." Hiccup said as Toothless approaches, settling in to devour the feast.

"Uh..we've got some salmon, some nice Icelandic cod, and a whole smoked eel." When Hiccup says that Toothless shakes his head violently, growls at the basket. "No, no, no! It's okay. Yeah, I don't like eel much either." Hiccup said making me giggle a bit at their bonding.

Toothless focuses on the remainder. With him distracted, Hiccup unwraps his prosthetic fin and opens it like a fan.

"Okay. That's it. That's it, just stick with good stuff. And don't you mind me. I'll just be back...here. Minding my own business." He said before he cautiously approaches the injured tail, but every time he gets near it, Toothless sweeps it away like a cat "It's okay." He said as he drops a knee on top of the tail making Toothless' head juts up, slows its chewing to a halt.

I start to slowly stand up as I know what Toothless is thinking. Toothless tenses, and slowly starts spreading his wings. Hiccup finally straps the prosthetic fin in place. He cinches the straps.

"There. Not too bad. It works." He said pleased before Toothless bolts!

He snaps his massive wings and takes to the air, carrying Hiccup with him on his tail. I know Toothless isn't doing to do anything drastic without me and Crystal so I sit back down and lean against Crystal watching the show.

"Woah! No! No! No!" Hiccup shouts as he struggles to hold on to the tail.

As the ground speeds away, Toothless immediately tips into a uncontrolled bank and dive. Hiccup sees the folded fin rattling uselessly in opposition to its flared counterpart. Flap as he may, Toothless can't correct his trajectory. Hiccup swallows his fear and crawls toward the folded prosthetic. He reaches it and yanks it open. The flared, fan- like appendage catches the air, stabilizing the twisting tail

"It's working!" Hiccup shouts as Toothless levels out.

Toothless arcs just short of the water and climbs... high into the air.

"Yes! Yes, I did it." Hiccup shouts catching Toothless' attention.

He glances back at Hiccup, busily holding the tail open while
trying to hold on trying not to crash. Hiccup is suddenly thrown from the tail in the intense force of a turn. He bounces across the water's surface and takes a dive. Without Hiccup to operate the tail, Toothless does the same, plunging in a massive cannonball. Hiccup resurfaces, roughed up, but beaming. Toothless appears seconds later.

"Yeah!" Hiccup shouts with his arms in the air as me and Crystal laugh at the sceen we just watched.
