Rose's POV
The first thing I could hear was the birds happily chirping with the cold breaze of the wind kissing my bare skin. I opened my eyes to see the bright, looming sun and a very friendly face of Crystal and Toothless. When they saw I was awake they stared to go nuts and jump around before coming up to me and licking every part of my body.
"No. You know slobber takes forever to get off." I said while pushing them off of me.
I stand up and look around. All I could see is that we were in a blocked area with a lake in the middle.
"Where are we?" I ask as if I'm going to get a response. "We need to get out of here before the vikings find us." I said getting my head back in the game and look towards Crystal and Toothless.
While I was looking at them they both looked down at the ground looking sad.
"Hey what's wrong?" They did nothing. "Are you hurt?" They still did nothing making me worry.
I started walking around them and inspecting their bodies when I came to Toothless tail.
" Oh. Toothless. It's going to be alright buddy. OK? Your going to be fine."
One of Toothless' flaps on his tail has gone which means that if Toothless can't fly he's a down dragon but not if I can help it.
"Why didn't you just tell me bud?" I ask petting his noise. "Crystal can you be look out to see if any vikings come?" Crystal nodded and flew off into the woods around the top of the blocked of area that me and Toothless were in. "OK. Toothless i want you to try and fly to the top alright?" He gave a nod and tried.
After about an hour of trying I called back Crystal so they could both rest. While they were sleeping I grabbed some fish from the lake fro the dragons when they wake up. After that I fell asleep against Crystal and Toothless.
Hiccup's POV
After fainting back in the forest I go back home. I enter to see my dad, seated on a thick slice of tree-trunk. He is slouched over the fire-pit, stirring the coals with his axe. Embers waft around his beard. I try to sneak past, up the stairs to my room. Dad seems none the wiser, when...
"Hiccup."
"Dad. Uh..." I say in a manic voice knowing that I was caught.
Dad stands, takes a deep breath.
"I, uh... I have to talk to you, Dad."
"I need to speak with you too, son."
Dad and I straighten at the same moment.
"I've decided I don't want to/I think it's time you learn to fight dragons." We both say at the exact same time.
"What?" We both ask.
"You go first." Dad says.
"No, you go first." I say trying to hid the fact that I don't want to fight dragons as long as I can.
"Alright. You get your wish. Dragon training. You start in the morning." Dad saying shocking me.
"Oh man, I should've gone first. Uh, 'cause I was thinking, you know we have a surplus of dragon-fighting Vikings, but do we have enough bread-making Vikings, or small home repair vikings--
" --You'll need this." Dad hands me his axe, while I try avoid taking it.
"I don't want to fight dragons." I say trying to get him to listen to me.
"Come on. Yes, you do." He replies to me.
"Rephrase. Dad I can't kill dragons." I say trying a different approach.
"But you will kill dragons."
"No, I'm really very extra sure that I won't."
"It's time Hiccup."
"Can you not hear me?" I ask trying desperately to make him listen to me.
"This is serious son!" Dad say forcing the axe into my hands.
Its weight drags me down as it's really heavy. I look up to see dad under-lit with firelight.
"When you carry this axe... you carry all of us with you. Which means you walk like us. You talk like us. You think like us. No more of..." He gestures to all of me with his hands. "... this."
"You just gestured to all of me." I said annoyed.
"Deal?" He says still ignoring me.
"This conversation is feeling very one-sided."
"DEAL?!" Dad tries again.
I glance at the axe in my hands knowing it's no-win argument.
"Deal." I said defeated.
Satisfied, dad grabs his helmet and duffel bag... and heads for the door.
"Good. Train hard. I'll be back. Probably." He says.
"And I'll be here. Maybe."
Dad heads out the door, leaving me holding the axe.
