Chapter 10 ~ Chasing Annabeth
Percy Jackson
Sure, I fought a lot of tough people in the mythology. I had several death threatening moments from loads of monsters and people that wanted to kill me. It was a miracle I was still alive after all that and if there was one thing I wanted to avoid for the rest of my life were the Arai. Those old hags were definitely going to let me suffer all the curses before killing me in the most painful way possible. On the happy note, I was about to add another stack to the curses today.
I never fought someone who used this fighting skill. She was quick and agile which made it difficult for me on Offense. She didn't fight like regular demigods. Have you ever watched those movies with girls that fight with Martial Arts? Yup, this girl was one of them.
I dodged another swipe of her dagger by dropping down low. I kicked my leg in an arch that caused her to fall over. But before I can counter attack, she rolled away from me out of range before pouncing like a tiger.
It was a miracle her mask and hood managed to stay on her head during the struggle. I side stepped and she zipped past me, I took the chance to slam the butt of my sword on her back. The impact must have shocked her a little because we moved away, fazed.
She did have speed and Agility on her side but she lacked power and strength. She knew she wasn't going to win by a direct clash. She was just trying to tire me before finishing me off. Whenever I would try to lash back, she would move away only to strike back and force me to back off.
She stabbed her dagger towards me face and it hit the wooden crate behind me by the slit of a hair. I kicked her away, the dagger still pierced into the crate. She rolled away into a crouch, weaponless. I took the dagger and flipped it with my left arm "Give up. Just show who you are and tell me what you want from me, then we'll negotiate."
She stood up and brought out two hunting knives each as long as her arms from her back. She replied in a low voice "I want your life."
Things just got harder... Comparing her fight with a dagger and the two long hunting knives. I almost regretted taking it and giving her a reason to bring out the two.
This time her fighting style changed. She lashed at me without pouncing away, pushing me towards the wall. No, I wasn't going to allow myself to be cornered.
Right now, she had the advantage in the narrow alley with her knives but my sword was longer and I had wider range. I swung my sword horizontally and she backed off to avoid it before jabbing the knife. I swatted it away with my sword and used the dagger on my left to block the other one. I wasn't a double weapon fighter but hey, you've gotta adjust for survival.
Unfortunately for my opponent, like I predicted, in terms of a direct head on fight, I had more advantage. Riptide hit her left arm and I could hear the sound of the bronze sword and her armor clashing. Despite, her armor she seemed to have gotten a cut on her arm because she moved back for a moment before charging again.
We were back once more near the crates where I disarmed her. She was going to corner me again. I won't play the same game twice. She aimed for my shoulder and I had myself distracted at thinking of strategies to avoid the same thing again. The dagger pierced through myleft shoulder and immediately, my orange shirt turned to a shade of crimson.
