A/N: if this gets published, this is my first fanfiction I've ever written, this story takes place about a month after the events of CoD MW2 (2022), so it doesn't interfere with the main storyline :)
Third Person POV
—————————————————Captain John Price and Kate Laswell meet after the assassination of Hassan Zyani and the disappearance of General Shepherd, unsure where to go regarding the outcome of Task Force 141's mission.
They sit in a room, and Laswell states "There has been ballistic missiles located in a camp in Russia, no one on our side knows how they got them, but it is clear that they are not Russian missiles." Hearing this, Price becomes aware that this means the 141 will form again to solve this problem, considering their recent success with Hassan. Before Price can respond to Laswell's new comments, she already knew what he was thinking. "Perhaps your team could use a bit more extra help, someone who knows about any kind of missile no matter who made them..." Price interjects and says "go on, who are you thinking?" Laswell smirks and slides Price a folder with a photo on it. To Price's surprise, the picture and name indicate that this new recruit would be a woman by the name of Olivia McCarthy. He says "A woman, huh? Well it'll take my boys a bit of time to adjust to that change-" "It better be quick, I already sent her commander the change in her assignment" Laswell interjects. Price is a bit shocked, surely Gaz and Soap would adjust quickly, but he wasn't sure how Ghost would react. Laswell continues "She will be transported to your post in 2 weeks, I expect your boys to be on their best behavior with her, though I know she'll set them right." Price looks at the photo again, showing a young woman, about 26, with long dark hair, piercing blue eyes and a scar on her left cheek. Looking at her information again, he could tell she was exactly what he needed for this new mission. "Thank you Laswell, I'll have everything ready for her within the next two weeks" he states. Laswell is happy to hear this, and they decide to end their meeting there.

Price eventually told the rest of the 141 the news of their newest mission and newest recruit. Soap and Gaz were thrilled to know who their new partner was going to be, but Ghost was wary about this, as Price expected.
"Ghost, I know you do not trust this sudden change in our formation, but this woman is an expert on missile development, she is exactly who we need to find the missiles in Russia and identify who they belong to." Price claims. Gaz and Soap are shocked to now know that this new partner would be a woman, and Ghost had one more question regarding her. "What is her rank? If she is truly an expert in missiles then why would she work with soldiers like us?" Price turns to him and states "She's a Lieutenant, like you. Though she does have skill in hand-to-hand combat along with firearm combat, so I think she will fit right in." Ghost feels a bit of ease now, knowing he won't have to babysit her at the start of the mission. Regardless, he keeps his guard up. Last time a foreign recruit joined the team he betrayed them all, putting the entire mission in danger. Ghost knew better than to let that happen again.
The team then hears the sound of a helicopter landing by the front of their base, this indicated that McCarthy had reached their location. Price is a bit surprised by this, as she was 3 days early to the deadline Laswell promised. He leads the rest of the boys outside to greet their newest partner, who was already waiting outside of the helicopter.
Olivia approaches the team with a smile on her face, and asks "is this the team I'll work with from now on?" She has a strong Irish accent, which Soap finds delightful. Price shakes her hand and welcomes her to the team, and introduces everyone "Here we have Sergeants Kyle Garrick and John MacTavish, though we call them Gaz and Soap respectively, and there is Lieutenant Ghost beside you." Ghost looms over McCarthy, trying to intimidate her by their large height difference, but it was to no avail. McCarthy salutes Ghost with a smile, showing her respect, but on the inside she is rather uncomfortable with this action. Ghost sees this lack of intimidation and is a bit shocked, no one her size has not been intimidated by him, but decides to stand down as a sign of respect.
"It's a pleasure to be on this team, I heard of Hassan's assassination from Laswell when she recruited me, and I was very impressed with your team's work." Price shows pride in this, and she continues "Regarding this new mission, I will need some more information about what our assignment is. Can we go inside? My back hurts from that helicopter ride." She ends this remark with a smile, and starts walking into their base.
This should be fun... Ghost ponders.
