Waverly waited until the path was clear of visitors before emerging. A contented expression on Nicole's face was matched by an anxious look on hers. Not known for getting the party started, certainly not with Champ, she'd surprised herself doing what she'd just done.
This was a big deal, a big step. Yet that brain of hers was demanding an answer as to what possessed her to drag Nicole into the bushes to play sexy families. She glanced back at Nicole still wearing a soppy smile. She must think I'm a total weirdo doing that to her. Oh no, I told her I wanted to live there, like some crazy person. Keep your mouth shut in future, and keep your hands to yourself.
Waverly's phone pinged as they neared the walled gardens. "Here!"
"Like your style Earp," Nicole teased, looking around for where Waverly might take her on their next adventure.
Waverly transferred her attention from Wynonna's message to Nicole. "What?"
"Another secret hideaway where you can show me your moves."
"Wynonna's here."
It took Nicole a moment to realise what she was being told. "Here!"
"I told her I was getting a lift. She must have decided to spy on me."
"Here, as in where exactly?"
Waverly began scanning the area in search of her sister. "Alice is with her, so she's probably heading to the poultry orchard."
"Is that near?"
Waverly was already marching ahead.
Nicole caught up with her. "We could have lunch together. I've not really met Alice."
"Can we do it another time?"
"If you like. Although, it would be nice saying hi."
Waverly picked up speed.
"What's the hurry?"
"I need...I forgot, there's somewhere else I want to show you. A beach...not far..."
"We haven't seen much of here," Nicole replied. "At least let us say hello."
Waverly ignored Nicole's request, breaking into a trot. She wasn't ready to let her sister see them together, with no sign of Joe. She also needed time, time to figure out what this was with Nicole, hoping it was more than a rebound relationship, a let's have some fun while I can relationship. Could she trust Nicole? Could she find herself on the wrong side of this relationship, before she could say sea glass?
She ignored a second message from Wynonna.
"Aren't you going to answer that?" Nicole said, starting the car.
Waverly sent a curt reply saying she'd got side tracked, and wasn't at Heligan's.
Wynonna sent an eggplant emoji.
"Okay, so where now Earp?"
Waverly looked up from her phone. "Vaults."
"Which is where?"
"Left out of here," Waverly instructed. "I'll direct you."
Nicole did as she was told, the roof down as they headed towards the coastal resort of Gorran Haven, with little clue as to where Waverly had in mind. They eventually arrived at a small car park, with space for twenty or so cars. Theirs the third to park, Nicole flipped the roof, waiting for Waverly to get out before joining her.
"It's not far," Waverly said, setting off.
"Where are we going?"
"Vaults, I told you."
