Hidden Mistake

CHAPTER 5

They say too much happiness leads to sadness afterwards. That's why others are scared of being happy because they know that after those laughter is pain.

Well, I agree with that. Based on my own experience.

"Ma'am s-si K-Khael po na-nawawala" humihikbing sabi ni Maya.

Those words ignited the fire inside me.

"WHAT!? What happened!!? Asan ka?" I said furiously.

I took my keys and immediately left my condo habang katawagan pa rin si Maya.

"Sa m-mansion po maam. N-nagpunta p-po kaming parke kasi maglalaro daw po siya. P-pumayag n-naman po si madam. Bumili po k-kami sa convenience store tapos paglingon ko w-wala na po si Khael. " hindi magkamayaw sa pagpapaliwanag si Maya.

I ended the call and left my cabin.

Dali- dali akong naglakad papunta sa parking lot at pinaharurot ang motor papunta sa mansion.

Thoughts of my brother taken away by kidnappers flashed in my mind. Damn! This is making me crazy!

Mas binilisan ko pa ang pagpapatakbo para makarating sa mansion. May nadadaanan akong mga puti at itim na van at naiisip kong baka nandoon ang kapatid ko. My mind keeps feeding me negative thoughts and it's making me nervous and furious as well.

My heart raced faster when I saw the mansion full of bodyguards and checking the whole place.

"Hija! You're here. We're already looking for Khael." salubong ni daddy.

"Saan si Maya?"tanong ko.

"Mamaya na yan. Hanapin mo muna si Khael! Nawawala na nga ang kapatid mo't lahat uunahin mo pa yang init ng ulo mo! " sigaw ni Corine.

I don't have time to argue with her. Gusto ko lang tanungin si Maya.

"Don't talk to my daughter like that!" daddy said angrily.

Natahimik naman si Corine.

"Call Maya" daddy ordered one of the maids.

Aligaga naman itong sumunod at pagbalik ay dala dala na ang umiiyak na si Maya.

"Ma'am, sorry po. P-please huwag niyo po a-akong tanggalin sa trabaho."

"Bukod sa inyo ni Khael, may ibang tao pa ba sa convenience store? May napansin ka bang nakamasid sa inyo?" tanong ko.

"M-meron pong lalaki na nakaitim ma'am. Pero di k-ko na po pinansin kasi akala ko bibili lang din sa store."

"Bobo! Alam mo naman palang nakakapanghinala, ba't hindi pa kayo umuwi?" sigaw sa kanya ni Corine.

Nakita kong natakot si Maya sa sigaw na iyon. I was about to talk when my dad's bodyguard rushed towards us.

"Sir. Nakita po sa cctv ng convenience store ang batang lalaki na pumunta sa isang saradong lote, malayo ng kaunti sa lugar."

I didn't waste any time and left the mansion to go to the old house. I know where that place is. But why would my brother go there? Did someone bring him there?

Is he back?

Mas binilisan ko pa ang pagtakbo para makaabot doon. Nakita ko na ang kinakalawang na gate at nang nakitang bukas ito, bumilis ang tibok ng puso ko. It was like this place is calling me. It felt like, it's waiting for me. It's been a while since I went here.

"Khael!" tawag ko sa kapatid.

I saw the old house built beside a big tall tree with long vines. Under the tree is a swing made of tire. This place is still so magical. The chirping of the bird felt like a song in my ears and the flow of the water from the river made the whole surrounding so calm and peaceful.
