It's raining today. A simple fact, but one you had to point out as you hugged your coat close to your chest rushing towards the station. It's been 3 days since the body of the pharmacist Mr. Burke had been found. In those three days you and Freddy have spent a lot of time together finding peace in his presence.

You hated to admit it, even now getting to know him better, that he had been right. A short break was exactly what you needed in order to correct your thinking and lead you down the path towards more leads. It was nice having someone believe in your abilities. ((F/N) believed too, but you always doubted she really believed in you. She meant well but you think she was just encouraging you to make you feel better than speak her mind.)

Freddy was a bit much at times though. Just like you discovered that first day of knowing him he loved pun. He used them sparingly as time went on but got a real kick out of them when ever someone used them. His favorite color was yellow, his favorite food was sushi just any kind really, he loved history and found the last captivating. (Particularly the brutal side of it, but then again isnt all history that way?)

He was familiar now. You knew more about him which led you to more easily trust him. But like you said he's still a bit much at time. Occasionally that excited man would become darker. A lingering emotion behind his eyes when he'd lean over you. His voice dropping as he did so. Then he'd snap back to normal as if he didn't just speak to you that way. But other than that he was trustworthy now.

Which was why you were rushing through the ran, your car an after thought, in haste towards work. They had finally found something to suspect the circus. What you didn't know, no one ever told you anything, but you knew they had taken Freddy and his friends into questioning.

You burst through the front doors of the precinct, panting as you did so. Thunder crackled behind you as another flash of lightening tore apart the sky. Marge looked up from the magazine she was reading. Her eyes met yours and she seemed concerned about your frantic look.

"Hey sweetie, you doin' okay?" Her voice drawled on, thick with a slight southern accent. (It was just her that sounded this way, and maybe a few of the elders in the town.)

"Did," you swallowed thickly as your sudden sprint through the rain caught up to you, "did the chief bring in the performers from the circus?"

"Yeah he did already." Marge folded the page in her magazine before she placed it down. She leaned forward crossing her arms.
"Just four of them for now though. There's too many suspects but he decided to talk to the main performers, you know the ring master and her three main acts."

You nodded taking a deep breath rushing forward past her.

"Thanks." Your words were brief as you rushed to the interrogation room. It was a small building but it was mostly empty. You stopped short realizing that fact.

They must all be watching the interrogation.

You frowned standing alone amongst the crammed desks. You knew if you went back there they'd never give you enough space to the front. Not to mention tease and berate you for being around Freddy so much.

"You must be (Y/N)." A woman's voice wafted through the air. Rich and smooth. You were startled out of your thoughts. You turned to see the ring master. You remember her though her name evaded you now. Her red hair was still tightly wound in their pigtails but her makeup was more modern than clown like outside of the circus now.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to be rude. It's just, I've heard so much about you."

"Oh," you self consciously brushed your hair behind your ear, "I'm guessing they're letting you go since they didn't find anything on you?"

The woman smiled. She giggled lightly at your assumption.
