-I quickly ran, placed my things on the table and sorted my files. No longer than 30 minutes, and the trial has begun, seeing that everyone needed was already present.

"How does the defendant plead?" Judge Trifler asks.

"Not guilty, your honor. My client is not a threat to the community. He has average grades, a decent job, and loving friends. Not to mention he's a minor." The Defense Attorney claims.

"A minor shouldn't be capable of DUI, assault, and theft. The legal age for alcohol here is 21 years. The defendant is 16 years old. If he had known better, he wouldn't have stolen his stepfather's car, drunk illegally, and harass an elderly woman."

"We can either finish this now or have a Jury help us out. Any further evidence, Counselors?" The judge says, annoyed.

"I have security footage of the defendant harassing the elderly woman in a nearby street. There was also a video on his phone of him in his stepfather's car with not one, but two bottles of alcoholic beverages."

"There is no proof that those bottles were his, your honor. His stepfather is known to drink at home. There was also no receipt found to determine when the drinks were purchased."

"At home you say, yet the defendant was 10 minutes away. The nearest Liquor store was 5 minutes away from where the old lady was found bleeding." I too got annoyed, seeing how this case could have been easily won. The Defense Attorney was the perfect definition of a bitch. She annoyed every other lawyer known in the state. She was good at cheating her way to victory with little evidence but plenty of money, mostly provided by her clients. None other than Ms.Copex.

"Well, I'll have to review these video tapes and the evidence presented. I will let you both know when we will meet for the trial. If I find it necessary, then a jury will be called. Either way please prepare your evidence and understand the difference between sentencing an adult and a minor. I need solid evidence. Court is adjourned." Trifler says while banging his gavel on the marbled wooden stand. I was irritated at the fact that this would still have to bother me in the future. I've dealt with many minors who ended up being sent to jail for valid reasons. For example, a teenager organized a robbery with men much older than him to make it look like he was dragged into it in case things didn't work out. Obviously, none of the 2 plans worked. Quite smart, but not smart enough. My frustration caused me to lose focus again as I felt Sylvie grab my arm and follow me back to my car.

"Great job out there! You could see how nervous she was. No evidence, no proof, nothing at all! How great is this."

"Not great at all. She'll probably go bribe the judge or threaten the family. This is her plan. To extend the trial, have a jury knowing that they'll feel bad for an innocent 16-year-old. Let's just go and work on the current case. I'll gather more evidence later tonight."

"How about I come help you?" I would have said yes since she was the one at the scene. But I didn't know if Khloe was gone or if she planned on staying longer. She and Khloe aren't the best of friends. Some may say she despises Sylvie.

"I don't think that's a great idea."

"Well, why not? It can be just a thing between coworkers. Unless... you want to finish where we left off." She suggests with a smile as I start the car.

"Look Sylvie, What happened was a one-time thing. I don't know if I'm ready to forgive you and try again. I'm more focused on work right now than I am on pleasures. Plus, I have a guest at home who probably wouldn't want to hear about this or you in general."

"Excuse me? So I'm just a one-time fling and you can peacefully move on with your life?!"

"You aren't a one-time thing Sylvie! But you also can't just jump into my life and expect everything to be ok again. Nothing is peaceful for me right now. My best friend just died! Do you think everything's ok? Not everything has to do with love or sex!"

"You know, maybe if you didn't continuously go to Khloe for advice and made actual friends who don't just tell you not to talk to women and save you for themselves, you'd be much happier in life. And maybe Lily would have been alive. Think about it. If you stayed with Lily a minute longer, she could have still been alive!" I turned to her; my eyebrows raised.

"Are you fucking kidding me right now?"

"Accept the truth, Aaron! You let your whole personality be about how we broke up. Have you ever talked to Khloe about anything other than Lily, how she dumped you, and how you want to start over?!"

"Have you ever done any of those things?! Not even once have you tried to approach me and ask about my life! After everything you've done!"

"Because you wouldn't fucking let me! You avoided me! Kept your distance! Wouldn't even look at me! I tried everything I could to properly apologize but you couldn't even say hi to me. Don't you think it hurts me to see that you want nothing to do with me? I loved you and I still do. You can't just assume that I hurt you intentionally." She cried and sobbed as began to realize how selfish I had been. I never tried to check in on her or hear her side of the story.

"Sylvie..."

"Don't even. Just drive me home. I need to grab some things. I'll take a taxi to the district afterwards. I don't feel like talking anymore. It's stupid anyways."
