- I opened my eyes and slowly turned my head around. I couldn't see anything. As I slowly gained consciousness, the muffled voices became understandable. I only recognized one voice. I grunted in pain and tried to move my hands and feet, but neither would budge.

"Ah, he's up." A voice says. I recognized it from before.

"Aww. he's thinking." Another voice says. It was Sylvie.  I've investigated and prosecuted many offenders who were in a situation similar to this. I don't know where I am or why, but I'm at an advantage. I know how to keep my cool and play with them psychologically.

Whatever cover I had on my head was removed. The light shined in my eyes as I looked around to analyze the area and adjust. It was a dark basement with one light above me. There were some stairs to my left with a door. In front of me was a small Tv on a table and there stood Sylvie with a smile. I chuckled softly. As expected, her face dropped a little as she looked behind me.

"No need to hide in the shadows. I already know you're there, Steven."

"You figured it out. Good." I took a random guess. Deep down, I hoped to be wrong, but everything made sense. I was abducted by my ex and my best friend's fiancé.

"You've always been so predictable. I am curious to know how you met Sylvie, though."

"That's for another time I'm afraid."

"Of course. Quite the place you've got here. Even though everything connects, I'm still curious. Let's cut the shit. Tell me, what's your plan."

"Our plan is quite simple darling," Sylvie says, stepping in. I was furious, filled with rage and disgust. Seeing Sylvie made me want to actually kill her.

"You might want to keep quiet honey. Don't want that pretty mouth of yours going to waste now do we?" I say trying to get into her head. She always likes it when someone talks to her in such a tone. The only thing her mouth would do once I was out of these ropes was bleed.

"Nice try Aaron. Always the kind to seduce girls and try to get into their heads. I thought you'd stop that once Lily died. Truly a shame. Just weren't good enough." I laughed hearing what he had to say but was truly hurt by his words.

"Oh, Steven. It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm sorry for your loss by the way. Never got the chance to properly say it, but I suppose this could work. I liked my relationship with Lily. I loved her, yes. And regardless of what she felt for me, we still ended up in the bed you built." He came towards me and punched me. I laughed at how quickly he got angry. "Did you punch her the same way?"

"What are you talking about?" He asks.

"Don't act so stupid, Steven. You were the last one at Lily's place. Plotted perfectly by you two. That's how Sylvie knew Khloe was at my place. Everything was so perfect, wasn't it? You managed to tell Jules to ask Khloe out and trick him. While I was drinking with Khloe, you killed Lily, moved her body, and changed clothes. I knew I recognized them. I bumped into you when I was leaving Lily's apartment. The whole Khloe thing is a bit confusing to me. I don't know who planned it, but I got to give it to you, this could have been perfectly executed." The pair looked at me in shock. "Am I wrong?" Steven let out a small scoff trying to keep his act.

"Well done, Aaron. There seems to be one mistake you made that gave us an advantage. If only you didn't tell Sylvie that you'd been with Lily a few hours before."

"I wonder how that benefited you guys." I say sarcastically.

"You see, without you, I would have been in jail. But like you told Sylvie over the phone, 'You're a lawyer, not a detective'."

"Get to the point."

"I planned on only talking to Lily. But once I entered, she was crying on the couch with little letters on the table. All of which were written by you. It pissed me off seeing how you were always in the way of our relationship. She told me she wanted to postpone our wedding and 'take some time off for herself'. I didn't even get to ask why. You got in her head. You made her doubt our relationship. She lost the beautiful glow in her eyes because of you. She was in so much pain because of you. She died because of you. This is all your fault. Everything is always your fault. You think the world spins around your little finger, don't you? "

"You think that you're never wrong." I say, leaning towards him. I laugh at how dumb his reasoning sounds. "I never really show this side of me, but I made a small exception for you, and my beautiful baby of course." Sylvie smiled a bit, falling right into my trap. "How could she ever love someone like you? A monster, a liar, an unfaithful piece of shit, you were everything she hated. You drank, hit her, yelled at her, and cheated. Just like her father." Just like I wanted, he was furious and pissed. He clenched his fist and got up. He put his hand around my neck and slowly applied pressure.

"You've got no clue in the world what you're talking about." He whispers.

"Steve..." Sylvie says.

"No, you shut up!" Steve growled. "She never loved you. And even if she were still alive, she never would have even liked you. Your life is over Aaron. There's nothing you can do. Even as I took her life away, her eyes still cried for you. What do you have that I don't?! Huh?! I have money! Fame! Power! Everything a girl could want! You're just a nobody! What is it that she sees in you that I lack?!"

"A heart. You're a heartless psychopath. You only follow stereotypes and think about yourself before others. Even if she never would have liked me, she'd hate you even more. You still don't get it, do you?"

"Get what?" He asks, removing his hand.

"She only used you to get over me." I grin while he processes what I said. His face was red. He was fuming. It was amusing. I've always tried not to play with people, but it's too fun. Most of the things I said were accurate, but their faces made me laugh. After a while, I sighed and heard a small chuckle from Steve.

"Enough. It's time."

"Am I allowed to ask what you mean by that?"

"Anything for you, Aaron. You see, you being at Lily's house before is the reason I'm here and not in a cell. Do you know why, smart-ass?"

"I am very intrigued to know how you'll show me."

"Don't worry. Technology can do many things nowadays." He grabs the remote and turns the Tv on after tuning in to the news channel and waiting for a few seconds. What I saw not only surprised me, but made my heart sink...
