Love you all ‼️
------—–———————————————----I wake up to the sunlight beams shining brightly through the curtains. I cover my eyes while looking around to this new yet familiar bedroom. Sitting up, I gaze upon a portrait of a couple dressed formally. Upon closer inspection, I realized the man was me alongside a woman who seemed only familiar, yet I could not remember her.
Come to think of it, I can't remember a thing. Not sure about a single memory of the previous night or where I was. Did I live here? It seemed too luxurious, but then again. Am I rich?
As thoughts bombard my head, a woman enters the room. I immediately recognize her. She's the woman in the portrait.
"Oh, darling! You're up already. how are you feeling?" She asks, placing a tray of food on the desk behind me. Darling? Were we a couple? I have no memory of her in my life whatsoever. "Honey?"
"I'm sorry, who are you exactly?" I ask, distancing myself from her. She begins chuckling and approaching me.
"Not this again. Don't tell me you blacked out last night? You know what that does to your memory. Here, I made you some breakfast." She sits on the bed and motions me to sit beside her.
"Drunk? I don't... think so. I can't remember anything."
"Don't worry, baby, it's totally normal. You should feel much better after you fill your stomach and have some tea. Now come on before it gets cold." I hesitate, try to walk over to the bed and sit, looking at the tray of food presented. As pleasant as it looked, I couldn't quite wrap my head around something
"You keep calling me these...names. Are we in a relationship of some sort? I just really can't remember anything. You're basically a stranger." She sighs, her face suddenly serious.
"Aaron, this can't keep happening. You drink too much, black out, and wake up like I kidnapped you."
"What...?"
"My name is Jylisa. I am your wife of 2 years. You are in our bedroom. You had a party yesterday and got drunk. Anything else you want to know?" She seemed stressed, tired even. Was I really some alcoholic who constantly lost his memory?
"I'm... sorry. I'm just a little confused. I'm sure the side effect will wear off soon." I force a smile and look at her. Her face seems to glow at my response. I felt a little guilty, but looking at my surroundings, I seem to be doing well. I have a beautiful wife, home, and...
"What's wrong?" She asks, seeing visible confusion on my face."
"What do I do for a living?"
"You're one of the most successful lawyers in the state. How did I get so lucky?" She places her hand on my cheeks, rubbing it gently with her thumb.
"And you?"
"I'm an oncologist, Aaron. I was sure you wouldn't forget that one. It's what we were celebrating last night?"
"Oh, right. We'll congratulations again, Jylisa."
"Thanks, sweetheart. I do have to get ready for my first meeting later today. So I'll call you during my break."
