CHAPTER 6

"You're coming home tomorrow!?" Those are the words that echo inside Chuuya's room as his grip on his phone tightened excitedly, "No way, damn it, that's awesome! I'll fetch you at the airport!"

He hears a soft chuckle from the other line, "You don't have to. I know you need to do something in the cafe tomorrow. I can manage."

"The cafe is closed tomorrow. It's Sunday, remember? One more thing, I think I should be a good brother for once, don't you think so, Verlaine-nisan?" Chuuya asked and he could feel his brother smiling even from miles away. Chuuya leaned on his headboard calmly as he heard the response from the other line.

"You've matured well, Chuu. I'm proud of you." Verlained replied gently, "But I have things to work on with tomorrow after I get to the country. If you want, you can join me. I'm going somewhere after landing in Japan."

Chuuya blinks, "You think I can come with you? Where exactly?"

"I'll be meeting an old friend of mine. But I'm afraid I won't be able to speak the language fluently since I've been residing here in France for the past five years. I think you can also take a rest from having all the responsibility at that cafe. You need to unwind for a while."

"Uh, you want a translator or something?" Chuuya chuckles, "No problem. I've been too busy with a lot of stuff in the cafe lately. Maybe I can lay low for tomorrow." Chuuya remembers all the mess that's been happening with Dazai for the past weeks, "Alright, nisan. But at least let me wait for you in the airport. I can't wait to see you again."

Verlaine's warm and gentle voice chuckles again, "Fine, I'll see you in the airport tomorrow, brother, and that's great, Chuu. I can't wait to spend time with you, too. I'll tell my friend that you're coming with me. His name's Rimbaud, by the way. I'm sure you'll like him."

Rimbaud. Hmmm. Chuuya narrowed his eyes suspiciously, "May I know why this friend of yours must meet you the first day you get into this country, nisan?"

"Oh. Uh. We've been friends for years now. Maybe you should meet him and see how great of a person he is." Verlaine replies in a little nervous tone, but Chuuya just giggles knowingly.

"Wow, it sounds very non-heterosexual."

"I'll be averting all the allegations." He heard Verlaine laugh on the other line and that's when Chuuya realized that he misses talking to his older brother, "I'll see you tomorrow, Chuu."

"Yes. See you, too." The call ended.

Chuuya is in his room right now while calling Verlaine, his older brother. Verlaine's been staying in France for five years now and after all those years, he's visiting Japan tomorrow for probably months. His older brother is a chef in a fancy french restaurant so he has also been busy for the past years. Chuuya can understand why it took years to actually come back to his hometown. Aside from Verlaine, Chuuya also has an older sister named Kouyo. Kouyo is the eldest among the three of them, and the most intimidating. Kouyo's been an achiever all her life and she's very gentle, though she can also be scary whenever she's angry. Unlike Verlaine, Kouyo is staying in Japan and she shares the house with Chuuya. Although the woman barely stays home due to her busy job as a doctor. Right now, Kouyo's in her shift so Chuuya's all alone in the house, as usual.
