"𝐏𝐀𝐒 𝐃'𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐋, 𝐏𝐀𝐒 𝐃𝐄 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄!" Alice Miller screamed at her daughter in French the moment she opened the door to her house, "I had to find out from your brother where you were and he didn't even know!" She continued as Mary took off her shoes, hung up her jacket and gestures for Tristan to hide through the glass door, "At least I can trust one of my children. At least one of them cares about their mother." Alice's accent was thick, proving that she had called Mary's grandmother from Paris that night.
"At least you act like one of them is your kid." She whispered under her breath as she looked for her headphones.
"Ca c'était quoi?" Her mother asked, following her up the stairs, "Maybe if you appreciated me more and were actually ever here I'd remember you existed!" She shouted at the bedroom door as Mary slammed it, only to see her brother sat at her desk. She just shook her head and pointed at the door.
"Out!" She shouted at him when he didn't get up.
"Bugs, I had to tell her you left early, she was freaking out and neither of us knew where you were."
"So telling her would've made no difference." Mary argued before pointing back at the door, "Fous le camp d'ici!" She shouted and he put his hands up and ran out of the room. Whenever Mary got especially angry, the french her mother forced her and Mike to learn as a child came out. She leant against the door and closed her eyes as she listened to her mother praising Michael for staying honest with her. A tear fell down her cheek as she took a breath and got up to go to the garage, even though she wished her room was sound-proof.
She plugged in the electrical guitar once she got in there and sat down on the stool she had bought that was signed by Alex Turner. She didn't feel like playing something that she had to learn, she just wanted to strum the strings and see where it took her. So, she picked up the guitar and went straight in with playing whatever she wanted.
It took her thirty minutes to get all the anger and sadness out that she bottled up for her mom. Mary unplugged the guitar and took a deep breath before hanging it up and walking back to the house. Whilst on her way, in the corner of her eye she saw Tristan hid behind a tree.
"Right, come on, climb it. I'll meet you in my room." Mary pointed at the branch that reached her balcony. Mary ran up the stairs, past her brother's room and into her room, where Tristan was trying to pry the balcony door open. The Miller girl held in a laugh before unlocking the door and watching as Tristan jumped onto the girl's bed, still in his uniform. "You should've changed at your house." She commented.
