𝐈𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑, it was how petty the woman was. The next few mornings after their fights were usually insufferable, but it was even more so today, three days after their latest fight, since her mother hadn't trapped herself in her office. In fact, Alice was sat at the kitchen counter, waiting for her daughter to come downstairs.
"Hey, Mary, you're up early!" Her mother exclaimed as she rushed into the kitchen and reached for her meds. "I made you some french toast," Alice slid the plate across the table, "it has bacon and maple syrup too." She added, watching as Mary put the pill on her tongue and swallowed it down with a glass of water. "You're supposed to take that with food, Marianna." The Miller mother said, her french accent jumping out at the girl. It made Mary wonder why her mother took her father's name and didn't change it when he left. She thought her mother's maiden name, Bonheur, was much nicer than her father's basic surname, Miller. Especially considering that it meant lucky.
"I'll be fine." Mary reassured her mother, sliding the plate back over the counter and walking towards the door, bag and jacket in hand. She stopped at the table next to the door, where she saw a letter with her full name on it and a matching one with Mike's. "What the fuck?" She whispered to herself, opening up the envelope and seeing an invitation to none other than Rory Gilmore's birthday party. Mary chuckled to herself, put the invitation in her bag and walked out the door.
Throwing her bag in her car, followed by her jacket, Mary got into the driver's seat and pulled violently out of the driveway. She put in her Amy Winehouse CD and nodded her head to the song Rehab whilst on her way to school. "Didn't get a lot in class," she sung under her breath, turning a corner and seeing Brodie walking to school on his own. 'But I know we don't come in a shot glass," she continued singing along as she pulled up next to him. "Get in." She shouted.
"Bite me, cree- oh," Brodie turned around to see Mary looking at him with raised eyebrows, "hey stalker! Following me to school?" He asked, opening the passenger door and moving Mary's stuff so he could get in.
"Oh, of course," Mary joked, watching as his eyebrows furrowed at the music she was listening to, "don't tell me you don't know who Amy Winehouse is."
"Sorry to disappoint," Brodie shrugged, making Mary's jaw drop, followed by her letting out a loud sigh. "Anyway," the dark-haired boy swiftly changed the subject, "were you invited to Rory's birthday party?" Mary groaned loudly at the sound of her name.
