"𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐈 𝐀𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐆𝐎 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍?" Mary asked her twin brother, smoothing out her dark-red, satin dress and walking towards the front door of Rory's grandparent's house. "I mean, it's not like this is gonna be a good party," she added, ringing the doorbell and then stepping back with her hands behind her back.
"Because you were invited by the host and by your boyfriend," Mike whispered as a maid opened the door to the two Miller siblings. "Good evening," Michael smiled to the woman as she asked for Mary's and his coat.
"Oh, thank you," Mary smiled, taking off her jacket and passing it to the maid, who nodded at her kindly. "God, I miss our maid," she whispered to Mike, making him furrow his eyebrows.
"She stole, like, all your jewellery," he replied, making her shrug.
"Yeah, but she brought me ice tea whenever I asked," Mary retorted, making her twin brother chuckle.
"Yeah, that was her job," Mike commented as the two teenagers walked into a room full of adults they didn't recognise and a few kids they did. It was becoming unbelievably obvious to Mary that this party wasn't Rory's idea.
"Oh, hello," an older man that Mary assumed was Rory's grandfather greeted the two, "I assume your friends of Rory's?"
"Yes," Mike answered with a nod before Mary could say the opposite, "Michael Miller, sir, and this is my twin sister, Mary." He added, shaking the older man's hand and then looking at Mary to do the same.
"Miller?" Rory's grandfather asked, "is your mother Alice Miller, from Miller's Magnificent Bakes?"
"Yeah, that's her," Mike laughed as the man smiled.
"Unfortunately," Mary added under her breath, making Mike stomp on her foot, which she had temporarily slipped into a black heel rather than her signature boots.
"Uh, well, most of your classmates are in the library, if you'd like to follow me," he smiled, walking away from the two in the hopes that they would trail behind him. "I'm Richard, by the way, Rory's grandfather," he smiled, making Mary tilt her head and wonder why he seemed so proud of that. "And here are your friends," he gestured to the room filled with people who liked Mike and feared Mary, "Have a good evening."
"He seemed nice," Mike whispered to his twin sister, making her hum in agreement.
"I'm gonna go look for Brodie, I'll see you later," Mary replied, making her brother nod and then walk over to his friends.
