Meet Rowan Gilmore + everyone in her life

"How long till she wakes up?" Rory asked looking down at her twin sister in amusement.

"I don't know." Lorelai said furrowing her eyebrows. "Maybe if we play the sound of a dribbling basketball in her ear she might arise"

On cue, Rowan raised from her slumber. "What time is it?" She said groggily

"10 am" Rory replied. "You've been out since yesterday night."

"Wait what? What time last night and why are both of you weirdos smiling at me?" Rowan asked already done with her day that just started.

"Hmm around 7pm" Lorelai said all singy songy. It suddenly hit Rowan and she internally sighed. She made plans with Carmen to hang out after she came home from basketball conditioning but she was too tired and fell asleep.

"oh shit." Rowan said anxiously. Carmen was going to kill her. They haven't hung out all week because of Rowans been so busy with everything. The cancellation of Max and Lorelais wedding, the road trip to Harvard and her basketball conditioning for the new school year had taken up all of her time recently so she had absolutely no time to hang out with Carmen lately.

Abruptly standing up from her bed, Rowan rushed out of the door hoping to go apologize to Carmen as soon as possible.

"Rowan! Get back here!" Lorelai yelled.

"Ughh Yes mom? Please I have to go apologize like right now." Rowan said while moving around frantically.

"I don't think you want to show up to your girlfriend's house in your "video game warrior " pajamas to apologize at 10am" Lorelai said. "Just a word of advice, but if you want to come off as a desperate kid who looks like they need forgiveness to live carry on!"

"Hey I do not come off as desperate, I just don't want her to think I blew her off!" Rowan defended. "And she is not my girlfriend". Carmen and Rowan had their moments that made it seem like they were dating to the rest of Star Hollows but they weren't. The title friends with benefits would fit them more.

"You kinda did blow her off" Rory said looking at her twin sister trying not to laugh. The site was hilarious to say the least.

"I did not! I fell asleep because I had been through a hellish practice and had a pretty shitty day" Rowan defended. Although she wasn't lying she was still raking her brain to find an "excuse" that Carmen would accept.

"Making plans then not following through is quite literally the definition of blowing someone off" Lorelai countered. Had they not listened to anything she was saying?

Rowan sighed and walked into the closet and started to find some actual clothes to put on. "Its not but okay." She yelled from behind the closet door. "And even if it was you guys totally set me up. You guys coulda woke me up." She had settled on an athletic shirt and some sweatpants only because she wasn't in the mood to dress well.

"Its fun to see Carmen get mad at you." Rory shrugged.

"Whatever I'm leaving. If I don't come home it's because you know who killed me" Rowan said while slipping on her sneakers and leaving the house

"Don't run too fast on your way there!" Lorelai yelled out.

"I won't run at all." Rowan grumbled. "In fact I'll walk I couldn't care less about when I get there!" Rowan slammed the door and left praying Carmen wouldn't be too mad.

"Carmen let me in come on" Rowan said in a hushed voice while knocking on Carmen's bedroom window. She would go through the front door but she'd rather not be chased away by Carmen's grandma who isn't so fond of her.

"Carmen I'm sorry please just open up!" Rowan begged for the about the 100th time. The window finally slammed open and she smiled but quickly frowned when she realized who was at the door.

"Shut the fuck up damn." Liya said annoyed. She was sleeping over at Carmen's house and was not happy to be woken up by Rowan begging like a dog for Carmen's forgiveness. "Carmen, please come get your Rowan I'm pretty sure she's on the verge of tears."

"Oh fuck off, I am not on the verge of tears!"

"No? I can most definitely see some tears waiting to be let down"

"Enough you two." Carmen said revealing herself in the window frame. She had on some plaid pajama pants and a black crop top and look absolutely stunning. "Liya you can use the shower its free now"  Carmen said to Liya and she flipped Rowan off one more time before she left.

"Rowan get off the tree and stop begging you look like an idiot"

"Yes ma'am" Rowan complied and crawled inside the window frame. "Are you mad at me?"

"Why would I be mad at you?" Carmen asked while sitting at her vanity table and doing her makeup.

"W-well I kinda forgot to take you out yesterday like I said I would." Rowan mumbled nervously.

"I'm not mad at all. Do whatever you want, it's not like we're dating or anything." Carmen said. Rowan internally rolled her eyes. Here she goes again. At times they act coupley with each other and then Carmen has to remind Rowan that they're not even going out.

"We act like it might as well just be one" Rowan shrugged.

"Putting a label on us would just ruin our friendship"

"We clearly like each other?"

"Doesn't mean we need a label or a relationship"

"Whatever I don't care. I have a basketball game tomorrow, are you coming?" Rowan asked Carmen really hoping that she'd show up. "Coach wants you there too" Whenever Carmen's at her games she plays so much better and a lot of people, including Rowans coach, has noticed the performance difference.

"Probably not sorry Row. I have a date." Carmen said and Rowans eyes almost flew out of her sockets. Its not surprising that Carmen has a date. She's very beautiful but Rowan was just taken a back and a little hurt.

"Oh yea with who?" Rowan asked very curiously.

"Hunter." Carmen said avoiding eye contact with Rowan. Rowan absolutely hated Hunter. He's obnoxious and loud and had probably been around every girl on planet earth, but she had to keep her cool.

"why him?" Rowan asked but quickly cleared up her statement because she figured that was too blunt. "I mean you can go out with whoever you want I don't care but can't you postpone it? Its the first game of the season."

"Its rude to blow people off and postpone plans" Carmen said while rolling her eyes. Rowan sighed knowing that was definitely targeted towards her. "Tomorrows the first day of school why is there a game anyways?" 

"Its a scrimmage. Just forget about it not a lot of people are going to be there anyways just invite only" Rowan mumbled. "Have fun on your date with Hunter."

"I will"
