Small town, small girl, simple life, nothing out of normal, that's me. I'm Layla Miller from Nashville, Indiana and right now I'm living the life that I always dreamed of but that wasn't easy to get. I'll explain why, but for that we must go back in time.
So, how do stories normally start? Oh, I know!
Once upon a time, not too long ago, I started my high school years. In a new school where old friends and new get together. I was a little scared after all I always had problems in school. No one liked me and I really don't get why, I never did anything to them but for some reason they would mocking me and do all kinds of things to make me look bad. This year I'm just trying to fit in.
Arriving to the new class I couldn't believe my eyes the only girl who talked to me in my old school was in my class, isn't that amazing. I was so excited for seeing her. Then I looked around the class and everyone was already talking with their friends like they've known each other for decades, so I went to my old friend. She was in the back of the class talking to another girl, I've already saw that girl, but I don't remember where.
-Hi! – I said.
-Oh, hi Layla. It's nice seeing you we are in the same class again. This is my friend, you remember her from another class in our old school right? - she asked me.
-So that is from where I know you. – I said smiling.
We talk a little but then the teacher came in, and for my infortune (again, that is not surprising) the only seat left was next to these girls I have never seen before and one of them had a weird face. But I had no option so let's try being friendly.
I sat next to a short girl with glasses and right behind me there was two other girls that looked exactly the same (I found out later that they were twins). The teacher start presenting her self and then asked the students to do the same by the order of where we were seated. The teacher also said that the places we were sited now were the places that we needed to use for the rest of the year and disciplines, and that if needed some changes would be made.
The girl next to me looked at me like I was a target, but for my surprise after the class really started she changed. She looked at me and spoke to me in a friendly way, she even smiled at me. Anyway, the class ended, and I went to my old friend, that was when the girls that were next to me, two more girls and a boy came to us also. I was so nervous around that many people I thought I wouldn't fit in again. What if they didn't like me or didn't even get to knew me and already start mocking me, I'm no princess and I wear glasses too (you can imagine the nerd I was). I needed to stop thinking and just let things go with the flow.

I was scared for nothing. The break was awesome, and no one laugh at me I even found out that they actually have the same tastes as me. The English class was next, I was very good at this class, I really liked it but, the girl next to me wasn't like me. She told me she didn't have good grades at English since the beginning and that her parents were really strict with her so she asked me if I could help her. Of course, I said yes, I knew what having strict parents was and believe me I don't wish that for anyone.
I have low self-esteem and anxiety, and the main reason is my parents. I had problems with the kids at school they would hit me and push me a side but I couldn't tell my parents because in their eyes I was the one that isn't good enough. I could only count with my grandma our grandpa they were always there for me, that's why I had afraid this school would be the same has the others.
I helped her during class and sat next to her during lunch. Next to her and all the group that included me, Charllote, Madison (the two girls that came with the boy), Matteo, Lucy (the girl next to me), Ella and Emily (the twins) and Harper (friend of the twins). That was our group and for the first time I felt included.
I must confess something, Matteo left me thinking of one thing, why is there a boy in the middle of girls that understand us so well. I kept observing him, he was tall, with light skin, skinny and had some, what do I call that, tics I suppose. Although he was a guy there were some things that he did that remind me of a girl. I think he is gay.
Charllote was a beautiful brown eyed girl, with long dark hair and with a smile that could make anyone fall in love with her. Madison was the opposite, she had blond hair that was cut by her shoulders, big green eyes and she was shorter than me.
The twins, Ella and Emily, were too girls with brown eyes, brown curly long hair and their skin was a little darker than mine, a mixed between coffee and milk tone. Lucy was a small, introverted, brown haired, brown eyes with big glasses girl, she looked like she was going to be someone important.
Finally, we Have harper a long black haired girl, small, skinny and with a skin white as snow. I really liked her she was sweet and kind. I think this time school will be more fun.
Or so I hoped.
