I am a Stranger
You do not see my tiny moments
Empty sinks and lists full of slashes
I curate my space with tiny dragons
And rainbows refracting on the wall in a dance with the dustlingsYou do not see me in my pillow
Dozing, drooling, my hair in a muss
I fill it with salt some nights
Sometimes sleep so hard my nose feels twisted for the whole morningYou do not know my strengths
My power is not what you praise me for
I don't make sales or know about cars
And I cannot make something from just a moment of looking at itYou do not know my weakness
Don't do it for me I can learn
I can see emotion and atoms and souls
Stories unfold before me and I soak them in unblinkingYou do not see my struggles
Time is a construct and all objects fleeting
I see the world in blips and segments
I've built a universe in my mind
To save me from the one you've pulled me intoI was kicking bloody shrieking
I am rage and ecstasy in shattered glass
I am woven patterns of opal
Carbon black glittering branches
Fire and salt and new land rebornI am unremarkable
Average colors, small and quiet
You would not notice
If I vanished from your world
Because your dream of me
That thing you think I am
Would move to someone elseI am a stranger
You do not see me
You do not know meI am your daughter
