Shift

24 7 4

It begins and I rush in with fire in my veins
Since the first time claws met skin it's never been the same

The heat spills over with my smile
Looked forward to this for a while

My skin will itch, my fingers twitch
I'll see a ripple in my wrist

It looks like water whirling home
or when you swirl my latte foam

in your hand, above my head
my coherence under threat

My knuckles crack and joints will bend
The claws will split my finger ends

From this point you think it'd hurt
You know it really did at first

Now the moonlight's cooling balm
Slips like ice against my palm

My hands open like flowers bloom
and even then it won't end soon

An expert tease, the muscles pop
sliding over round bone tops

My chest will clench and then my belly
My teeth fall out and turn to jelly

Fangs replace them, slicing molars
Silken strings will slip my shoulders

My hips will pop and slide around
Stretch and snap, I love that sound

Close to climax filling up
The ripples spread from down to up

I smile 'cause it isn't over
My edges feel like fuzzy clovers

Down to up and up to down
Fluid flows from head to ground

Fur spreads out and in a rush
There's nothing that I love this much

My spine extends, the first tail twitch
Flexing like a willow switch

Loose-boned grace, a happy tremble
I laugh, I leap, and then I amble

It's hard to keep my skin contained
I remember that last time it rained

Then the world was filled with scent
Sound pricked my ears and there I went

Now I pace in my backyard
The creek's nearby and deer ain't hard

I leap to a branch, lie down like a wish,
and look forward to the next month's shift
