"What happened?" Li Ming asked as he walked through the crime scene. Li Ming walks further to the bed seeing the female dead in bed and the man next to her on the floor.
"One Male, one female. The female is 49 and the male's 50. They were married for around 2 years and had a newborn child not long ago," Wen Zhang said scanning the clipboard. Li Ming walks over to the crib in the corner of the room.
"Where's the child?"
"We're not sure yet," Wen Zhang replied
"They took the child?" Li Ming said looking between Wen Zhang and the crib.
"Again, we're not sure yet."
Li Ming bends down and looked at the bodies as Cheng Xing walked in.
"The man must have seen the killer or was awake at the time. If his bed side is on that side then he would have fallen off on the other side, not here. Looking at his position right now, he seemed to have been running, but running at who?"
There was complete silence in the room.
"What happened?" Cheng Xing asked, having just walking in.
"Cheng Xing have a look in the other room. I need talk to Wen Zhang for a second," Li Ming said rising from the floor. Cheng Xing looked at Wen Zhang confused and slowly left the room.
"What is it?"
Li Ming leaned in towards Wen Zhang.
"From what you see, how long ago would these people have been killed?"
"Judging by the state of the corpses, probably about an hour or 2 ago, why?"
Cheng Xing wasn't home at that time. The wounds, him knowing who the culprit was last time without any evidence. His heart sped up. He couldn't have.... right?
Shaking those thoughts from his mind, Li Ming walked out the room, grabbed Cheng Xing's hand, and dragged him out to the car.
"Li Ming, we're in the middle of a case."
"I want to get something to eat."
Cheng Xing walked out the store with a bag of snacks and some drinks. Cheng Xing sat in the car seat.
"You bought Bai Jiu?"
"Why not?" Cheng Xing said opening the lid and taking a sip straight from the bottle.
He may as well try to get some information to tell Master. They'll grow suspicious otherwise. Cheng Xing opened one of the many bags of chips.
"Hey! Don't get my car dirty," Li Ming frowned.
Cheng Xing smirked. Cheng Xing popped one in his mouth and just because he could, loudly crunched down on it.
"You should try it, it tastes amazing," Cheng Xing said, mouth half full.
His partner wrinkled his nose in disgust "No thanks, I don't want to get my hands dirty and oily."
Cheng Xing looks at Li Ming and pulls another chip out from the bag.
"Then don't use your hands, I'll feed you."
Cheng Xing held the chip out in front of Li Ming. Li Ming glanced at Cheng Xing and leaned his head forward, eating the chip. Cheng Xing handed the bottle of Bai Jiu to Li Ming.
"I've never had Bai Jiu before."
Cheng Xing stopped eating his chips.
"Try a little bit then."
"I don't drink," Li Ming said.
'Liar, you drank at the club before.' He thought.
"Not even a little sip?" He said instead. Li Ming looked at Cheng Xing the moonlight shining through the car window casting everything in varying shades of grey. Li Ming handed the bottle back to Cheng Xing.
