CHAPTER 27

The curtains had a slight breeze in them, blowing them aside letting the sunshine completely into the room. Cheng Xing went to the bathroom and touched up the make up on his ankle before walking out the room. Li Ming smiles as Cheng Xing waddles to the kitchen, scrunching his face and holding his butt in pain. He walked into the kitchen stirring one of the pots on the stove. Li Ming hugged Cheng Xing from behind the back

"I thought you hated me when we first met," Cheng said turning his head slightly towards Li Ming

"Hate is a strong word, more like disliked."

Cheng Xing chuckles. He kissed Li Ming on the cheek and smiled. Li Ming looks down at the food.

"Do you want me to burn the food or...."

Cheng Xing looked at the food. He quickly moved out the way letting Li Ming stir the food.

Moments later Li Ming placed the food on the table.

"I was thinking that we could go somewhere tonight."

Li Ming looked at Cheng Xing as he sat down. Cheng Xing smiled which quickly faded.

"Can I ask a question?"

Li Ming nods eating the food.

"If you don't have a girlfriend, what's the flower necklace on your desk?"

Li Ming stops eating and looks up.

"It was my mothers, before she died."

"How did she-"

"She was killed, by assassins. They killed both my parents."

"I'm sorry."

Li Ming doesn't say anything but stares in empty space, making Cheng Xing half wish he didn't ask.

"It doesn't matter, I told myself I would find the assassins."

Li Ming went back to eating the food.

"If you found them, what would you do?"

"Capture or Kill."

Cheng Xing looks at Li Ming, nods, and goes back to eating. Li Ming stops.

"What about your parents?"

Cheng Xing looks at him, unknowing on what he should answer.

"I don't know."

"You don't know what happened to them?"

Cheng Xing looks up at him. "I don't even remember them."

Li Ming grabs Cheng Xing's hand. "You don't have to worry, I'm here."

Li Ming smiles at Cheng Xing but this time Cheng Xing couldn't smile back.

They reached the prefect. Cheng Xing quickly walked into Li Ming's office

"I'll be back," Li Ming said walking out. Cheng Xing saw the flower necklace again on the desk and picked it up and touched it, feeling the cold metal flower on his hand.

Cheng Xing opened through the draws quietly, keeping alert Li Ming wasn't back yet. There was a piece of paper that was neatly folded in one of the draws that caught his eye. He unfolded it and looked at it. It was a photo of young child smiling at the camera. A female and a male who were much older stood beside him. It was his parents. Cheng Xing looked in closer. The parents' faces immediately caught his eye.

"If this is a photo of Li Ming, and these are his parents then...."

All those years ago, the people he killed on his first mission, was Li Ming's parents......
