Cheng Xing wandered a bit further until he reached a large wooden warehouse, trucks were driving to and from the area carrying large wooden boxes and crates. He ducked out of sight. It was like they were either moving or transporting something. CA truck came towards him and stopped on the road. Perfect opportunity, Cheng Xing thought. He climbed into the seat next to the guy.
"Hey, sorry, might need to borrow this."
"WHO THE-"
Cheng Xing slammed his head on the steering wheel then, grabbed his neck and twisted giving a very loud crack.
"What a satisfying way to go."
Cheng Xing dragged the body from the car, into a bush and started looking through his pockets. ID, torch, a set of keys. And.... his clothes. Cheng Xing walked out the bush wearing Yanima assassin's gear.
"I look so cool in this," he said, feeling it. Cheng Xing put on the mask covering everything on his face but his eyes. He got into the Ford Ranger and drove off.
He drove into the Yanima clans' area, Cheng Xing unknowingly found himself in a cue of security. People ahead of him were pulling off their masks and showing their ID.
What is this? The airport? Cheng Xing could feel his stomach getting uneasy. What if they found him? They'd kill him- no, they wouldn't be that nice, it would probably be a long slow torture. He would die without even getting to say goodbye to Li Ming. He thumped his head on the headrest.
"ID."
Cheng Xing put the stolen ID in front of the man and lowered his face.
"Mask," he said sternly.
Cheng Xing reached for the mask and pulled it off, trying to hide as much of his face in an angle. The man looked at the card and then looked at Cheng Xing.
"I've lost weight," Cheng Xing added unhelpfully. The man handed the ID card back.
"Go through."
Cheng Xing droves past him. Either couldn't see properly, Cheng Xing did a great job at lying and hiding or he was just stupid. Either way, Cheng Xing wasn't complaining. He parked the car next to other that were just left there and walked through the Yanima clan. Every instinct told him to leave, run, and when you're panicking and trying to look fine, you get the weirdest looks.
He walked into the warehouse; it was a big wooden one. One with metal doors and although there were windows there were also window shutters made of metal.
There were some people inside at the tables eating. Cheng Xing walked up the metal stairs to a second floor, The balcony granted a good vantage point. He walked down the corridor and reached a door which was the only one with a padlock on it. He tried the keys that he had stolen but none of them worked.
Cheng Xing looked around and found a window. He crept towards it and opened the window. He looked down which was a bad move. It wasn't that it was high, but the area was visible. If he slipped or made one wrong move, he'll either be spotted or sent plummeting, probably to his death. If gravity didn't finish him, they certainly would.
Cheng Xing pushed himself outside the building. 'THIS IS SO STUPID!' Cheng Xing screamed to himself as he held onto the side of the warehouse.
'Oh My God, Oh My God, Oh My God, Oh My God. I'm going to die.' Cheng Xing thought. Cheng Xing used his strength to push himself towards the next window. One slip and he was gone. He pulled himself up one more time and reached the window, swearing when he found it locked.
3.......... 2.........1. He smashed the window and looked around. Apparently, no one heard it. He put his hand in the broken glass and pulled the lock. He pushed the window open and landed on the wooden floorboards with both feet. The room was darker. There were shelves upon shelves of papers and folders. 175613, 13294, 175613, 13294. He chanted in his head repeatedly as he rummaged through the files. "13294!"
The file did have a weird eagle symbol on it in red. It was sealed by something like wax.
He went along two rows and found 175613.
The file had the same symbol with the same weird was texture sealing it together. As he held the folder 175613, something hit him. A sudden pain shot through his head. He fell to one knee.
Flashes of the folder went through his head. The pain stopped; Cheng Xing opened his eyes. Something in the back of his head was luring towards this one, wanting him to open it. Cheng Xing scratched at the 'wax', peeling it off slowly. When most of the 'wax' was off he pulled the folder open. Inside was documents, things he didn't understand. He looked through them until something caught his eye. He stared at it in disbelief.
Is that...... me? He stared straight at a younger version of him. He was standing there with a woman and a man. He picked it up only to find others behind it. He scanned through them, like memories he couldn't remember. Who were they? Did he know them? Was he supposed to know them? Suddenly it felt like Cheng Xing was missing something about his past. Like he no longer knew who he was.
Cheng Xing puts a USB laid with the photos into his pocket, making sure it wouldn't fall out. The sound of keys in a lock startled him. He placed the photos back in the folder and hid in the corner. A person walked in. Cheng Xing carefully watched his footing as the person walked around the shelves.
Everything was fine, until at the worst moment possible his phone started
ringing. He reached to it seeing Li Ming's name on it and turned it off, but it was too late. The room was silent. Cheng Xing's heart was racing. He took a step, tiptoeing through the shelves. A hand grabbed his shoulder and shoved him into the shelves. The shelves were uneven, points jutting into Cheng Xing.
"You're not supposed to be here."
The man had a very strong grip and threw him across the room. His body smacked the wall like a ragdoll. The files went flying over towards the corner. Cheng Xing got up in pain, but the minute he got up he was already being thrashed into some more shelves.
"Ouch," Cheng Xing wheezed.
Li Ming pulled the phone from his ear. "He's not answering."
"He might not have heard it. He must be tired, playing with Yulong."
Xiao Mei walked out to them.
"Have you heard anything from Cheng Xing? He hasn't picked up his calls."
"You called him?" Xiao Mei sighed. "Sh*t."
Cheng Xing was thrown against one of the shelves so hard that it started to fall, and just like a domino effect, all of them started falling. Cheng Xing would have been slightly happy to see the mess that they would have to clean if it wasn't blocking the door. The last shelf slammed the door shut.
He quickly got up and ran towards the door, but it was no use. It was covered in shelves and was probably locked anyways. Cheng Xing grabbed his dagger from his pocket and rushed at him. He slashed his legs, making him shout out in pain and forcing him kneel, giving Cheng Xing a perfect slash towards his throat.
Cheng Xing clambered over the files and papers towards the corner and picked up the two files. 175613 and 13294. He dashed towards the window and clambered out. Cheng Xing stepped to the side of the ledge. Cheng Xing looked below him. The longer he took to get down the more unwanted attention he would get. He slid down a pole of the warehouse, which would have been fine if it wasn't made of wood. Cheng Xing fell to the floor for the last bit and decided it was best to just sprint and forget about the pain all over his body.
He jumped into the same car and started the car. By the time the Yanima clan knew what was happening Cheng Xing was already in the car. He pressed down on the accelerator, forcing them to move out the way. Cheng Xing sped past security and smashed into the gate, forcing it open. He drove down for a bit and pulled his stolen car over to the side. He hopped out the car and walked towards the bush, grabbing his clothes back. He quickly changed back into his normal clothes and held the Yanimas clan's outfit.
"Don't mind if I keep these. Don't think you'll need them because you're dea-" Cheng Xing stopped. "I think I smacked my head too many times, I'm literally talking to a dead guy."
