The last one year was intense. After all those conspiracies, and a new king, the whole reality took a long time to sink. And the attacks on camp have become more common. It was like an appetizer and the entrée is still to arrive.
The camp had returned barely to normal. Jason was now the king of the gods and he as doing his best. But I was conflicted. To side with Thalia and yet support Hari! And his last words kept me bummed.
'I am my namesake.'
What did that mean? I was totally confused. I knew no one other than Hari who had that name. And this was bugging me. It was as if Hari was saying this information was like a crucial piece to the jigsaw. And worst, I could not share it to anyone. Not even Wise girl. I would betray Hari's trust. And I was one of the few ones who didn't betray his trust.
But I started to visit Jason often about the training plans. Me, Annabeth, Jason and Athena would discuss like a round table conference and would send reports about the training and the progress. Two members of the Chaos army and Hunters were tracking monster activities and would be our sources for any battles to start.
My relation with Thalia was at rock bottom. I understood her pain. But I also understood how there was a bigger plan. A chess player moving pieces. A Magnus Carlsen or Viswanathan Anand moving us like chess pieces, as Annabeth would say. I had to be neutral for now.
Sources said that a battle was around the corner. We were training fiercely. I slept for no more than six hours. I trained all. The hunters started to avoid me, so did Artemis. But that was not my problem, for now. With Hari gone, the responsibility now lied on my shoulders only. It was a huge weight to bear, even though I was used to it.
We were training when a scout returned. He looked panicked which was not a good sign.
"Monsters. In thousands. Led by some unknown monster. Near borders.", he said between breaths.
"Blow the conch!! Signal the start of the war.", I said and went straight to the border. There were a few thousand monsters. Justin came by my side.
"Ready for some fest, Perce?", he asked.
"Gimli vs Legolas.", I said and smirked. He laughed.
"I am Legolas.", I said.
"You are terrible with a bow!", Justin mocked.
"But better than you!", I smirked.
"Ok. You win.", he blushed in embarrassment. I chuckled.
"Let us begin.", he said as we charged to the scene, with the other demigods closely behind.
We charged into battle, with swords raised. We had formed another good partnership. After Annabeth, Justin was my go-to man. We formed an arc of destruction. There were many monsters which fell prey to our swords. We were then interrupted by a huge roar that sent a mini earthquake.
I turned around to see a huge demon, an Asura. Black horns, canines protruding out, hashbrown skin and bigger and stronger than a cyclops. With a big club, it could do a huge damage. I had to act fast.
"Justin! Time to check our skills on the Gada.", I said and capped Riptide. I took out the small pendent. Veda Vyasa enchanted it to turn into my Gada. A bright golden Gada sprouted out. Justin used a lighter copper version which he hid as a bracelet in his left hand.
The Asura saw and banged his chest. He roared and charged towards us; its club raised. The problem with Asuras, they may have little more brains than Greek monsters and hence fight tooth and nail. But they are easy to distract.
"Justin. I distract, you break its club.", I said and he nodded.
"Hey! UGLY!", I screamed. It roared and swung its club to hit me on the head. I blocked with my Gada, but the sheer force was enough for my knees to buckle. I rolled away just in time and saw a huge crater caused by that club. I ran to his legs, and managed to fool that Asura as I jumped away, causing his club to hit his own leg. Justin took that chance and hit the Asura bang on the wrist. The pain and disorientation was enough for the Asura to drop his club. I took out Riptide and slashed all over the body. The blunt of a mace does little harm to an Asura. The Asura died, but unlike the monsters, it did not turn into dust. Its dead body remained.
