Chapter Nine: "Forgive and Forget"

"Would you.. would you do bad things to me?" Eren slowly asked, asking the question that would make or break his final decision.

"No." Levi shook his head. "Of course not, Eren."

Eren bit his lip and nodded. "God, you are going to make my life so complicated."

Levi's head perked up. Did that mean he was going to be in Eren's future?

"Fine, Levi." Eren stood up and put out his hand for Levi. "I can try this out.. but my family is guaranteed safety.. understood?"

"I understand." Levi took Eren's hand and stood up. "Speaking of.."

"Eren, are you crazy?" Mikasa shouted. "Break up with him. Now. A mafia, or whatever, is too dangerous for you."

"We aren't dating, Mika." Eren said. He had told her about Levi and who he really was before she went ballistic on him. "And he's only doing this because he knows about Huck and it bothers him that I still live with him. This is a good thing."

"Eren if you go live with him, I'm going too."

"Well he knew you would say that and said he doesn't mind.." Eren said and put two hands on her shoulders. "I want out of this house so bad, Mika. I can't do this anymore."

"I know, Eren.." She sighed and looked at the floor. Too many thoughts were racing in her head of what could go wrong or end up endangering her brother. "I just don't want you to get hurt, I could never forgive myself."

"If I get hurt, Mikasa, it'd be my fault, not yours." Eren assured and kissed her on the cheek. "And I was hoping you'd want to come.. I wouldn't know what to do if you weren't there for me everyday."

"Okay, Eren." She laughed with a smile. She didn't like the idea of Eren moving in with Levi, not only because they had met two months ago, but because he ran a mob. It was a dangerous place, but Eren wanted to get out of this house and away from Huck.

Surprisingly, even after being lied to, Eren trusted Levi with his life. He felt that Levi would protect him when the time came just by the way he had treated Eren so far in the relationship.

"Alright now get out!" Eren chuckled and pushed her towards the door. "I want to go to bed, it's been a long day and I need to sleep the pain off."

Eren hadn't told her he'd been shot because then she definitely wouldn't have let him move in with Levi. When she saw the bandage, he simply told her he tripped down the stairs this morning and landed on his side. When she asked to see the bruise, all he had to do was tell her no and she didn't bug him anymore about it.

Eren shut the door behind her and pulled out his phone. He hesitated for a moment, still feeling a little awkward about earlier, before he clicked Levi's contact and then the FaceTime button.

It rang a few times before he finally saw Levi's face on the screen.

He was laying in his bed, the room dark, only lit by the light from his phone screen. His hair was wet and messy in front of his face and Eren blushed a little at his attractiveness.

"Hi."

Holy shit.

Thought Eren. He'd never been on the phone when Levi was tired to hear his tired voice.

"Did I wake you up?" Eren asked feeling a little guilty. Levi had told him about his insomnia, so if he had finally gotten a little sleep, Eren didn't want to be the thief of that.

"Nah, you're okay." Eren could listen to him talk all day at this point. The deep voice, the accent, and, sometimes, he had a way of words that could make Eren melt on the spot. Sometimes he was also kind of funny because, despite living in America for a long while, he didn't always have correct grammar or use or words.

"Oh, okay." Eren grinned and flopped down on his bed and pulled a blanket over his waist. "Did you just get out of the shower?"

"A little minutes ago." Levi yawned and ran a hand threw his hair. He flipped over to lie on his stomach and rested his chin on his arm.

Eren chuckled. "A little minutes ago?"

"Yes? I just said that."

Eren nodded with a grin. "Alright."

They both lied there for a moment without saying anything. Eren didn't really know what to say until he remembered his conversation with Mikasa.

"So.. Mika said it's okay to move in with you as long as she comes along."

Levi hummed a response and closed his eyes. It was obvious he was tired and he had a good reason for it. The stress of running a mob and Eren on top of it was a lot to handle at once.

"Are you actually going to sleep for once?" Eren  sarcastically gasped and Levi grinned. He didn't say anything though and soon his face relaxed and Eren didn't say another word. He didn't hang up though, he kind of liked the thought of having Levi there over the phone all night. It wasn't long before he fell into a deep slumber himself.

When Mikasa walked into the dark room, she smiled at Eren who was sleeping sprawled out across his bed. She noticed his phone on and sounds erupting from the it. Walking over to investigate, she saw it was only Levi and smiled again.

She had never seen anyone except teens,  twenty year olds, or old people use FaceTime, so it was cute to think Levi did it only for Eren.

Mikasa pulled the blanket further over Eren's slim frame and kissed him goodnight on the forehead. She was happy for the two yet very angry Eren was involved in something like this. However, he was an adult. If he wanted this, she couldn't stop him— all she could do was protect him the best she could.

They were going to the house tomorrow, but only to see where they would be staying. They still needed time to prepare their things without Huck or Carla realizing.

It was a little sad for Eren to think their tradition of going on a date every Friday night was over. Tomorrow, Levi would be showing them the house and probably just drop them off after. If he thought about it, it didn't matter though because now he would see Levi everyday. As told, if the whole mob thing was too much for Eren, he was welcome to leave and never be bothered by Levi again.
