Jill's POV
Sky and Tobin were in trouble. Damn it. I smacked my fist against the tactics board, reaching hurriedly for my phone. 911. It was the best we could do now.
"911 what's your emergency?" A friendly male voice came from the other end of the phone.
"My friends are in danger. They're being held captive by a man under the influence of alchohol. He happens to be one of their dads.." A tear trickled down my face, I couldn't lose them. Everyone thought I was hard, an unemotional and strict person, but on the inside I cared. About my family, about my players. Without them I wouldn't be in this position, manager of such a talented and amazing squad. I had to rescue Sky and Tobin, now.
"Okay maam, please try to stay calm." He replied, sensing the growing desperation in my voice as it shook and trembled through the phone.
"Do you know where they are?" I contemplated for a moment, before putting my phone on speaker and pulling up my tracker. Sky had agreed to allow me to track her phone, in case something exactly like this happened.
"213 Denver Street, Basking Ridge." I said, tracking her phones movement.
"We are on our way there now maam." The man said after a few moments pause.
I sat down, shaking. I had promised Sky that I would keep her safe, keep her out of danger. She was such a shy kid, with an untold talent just waiting to be unleashed onto the world. I had failed her; in every way I promised I wouldn't. We had only met for a day, but I felt the responsibility weigh in me like a ton of bricks, waiting to be lifted off of my shoulders. Her parents had to pay for the emotional and physical hurt they had caused her. Five years of trauma, it had to be worth something in the end. Please, just save her. I prayed and prayed and prayed.
Tobin was, is such a kind-hearted person, always willing to do everything for others while still managing to get a laugh and catch a break. Sometimes I wondered if she actually ever did catch a break, but always ended up reassuring myself that she would let me know if it all became too much for her. When she had come to me over a concern about a girl that she had met in the park, I was ready to laugh it off, tell Tobin that it wasn't our place to assume things about other people's lives. Yet she was so adamant about the girl's muffled talent that I agreed to help. It turned out, Tobin was right. We should always hold a place for those who are struggling, whether we know them or not.
Please God, say their safe.
Sky's POV
Tobin was unconscious on the floor, a large crimson gash across her forehead. I was held up against the doorframe, pleading silently, weeping beneath my lack of breath as my mum strangled me. As Isla strangled me. I was okay with them beating me up, or as okay as I can be living in a household of maniacs, but as soon as they touched Tobin, it was over. As far as I was concerned, these were not my parents anymore, they were jumped up psychopaths, and they were not going to be allowed to hurt my friends.
"Please, let, go." I gasped, clutching my neck in agony, the back of my shoulders pressed into the grooves near the hinges of the door. I could feel the hot rash forming under her stale fingers, praying for a way out. Alex, I silently pleaded, help us.
I could see stars clouding my vision, head heavy as it lolled to the side, eyes rolling backwards. I was floating. Tyler was in the distance, waving to me with open arms, pearly white gates open wide behind him. I felt a rushed force smack the side of my face. Yet it was numb to the agony. I could feel the blood rushing down my face, the bright red tint slightly staining the perfect white backdrop of my brother's abode. Ty, I whispered, tiptoeing towards him. He flashed his warm smile, breaking out into a sprint as I rushed into his arms. I missed you so much He said, leaning forwards to embrace me, to take me to the place we belonged. Together.
"POLICE, OPEN UP!"
I felt a strange sensation wash over me. Guilt, pride, sadness. I looked into Tyler's bright green eyes; his brown hair soft to the touch.
"Hey, hey, can you open your eyes please?" something lightly pushed me as I flumped to the ground.
I felt a trigger, pulling me away from Ty, away from the soft numbness of his fingertips. Hold on for me S. He spoke. Your life is yours to live. Find the RDC. Hold on. And I was pulled back towards reality.
