2. AVA
I always know if I'm going to have a bad day, and today was one of this bad days. Not because I decided to sleep longer, which was the reason I am in this shit now, but because Pedri was already in the city catching up with a friend. Which means I don't have a ride to Camp nou, well somehow I do but would rather walk to England than ride in the same car as Gavi, who was kind enough to pick me up.
If only he was kind enough to buy me the red bull he took.
I quickly texted Dolores who was driving me to the stadium, saying I love her in case I don't make it. The chances are high. I got ready as fast as I could, pulled my Barca jersey over my head and tied my shoelaces and then I heard the doorbell ring.
I swung the door open and here I am face to face with one and only Pablo Gavira, he looked quite startled, probably by the way I opened the door. We just nodded to each other and I snuck past him to his car and got in the passenger seat.
Skipping one match wouldn't hurt but it's too late now, we're already driving, I couldn't just change my mind and go back home. This is probably one of the weirdest car rides I had to endure, the tension could be cut with a knife, being so silent the only thing you could hear was the radio playing in the background.
Exactly like when you have to study, weird silence in the room and some music to keep you as sane as possible. A slight chuckle escaped my mouth at the thought and Gavi looked in my direction for a quick second then averted his gaze back to the road.
"Would love to stay alive to support my brother, thank you very much," the words left my mouth before I could process them and turned my head to Gavi. This eyes were still on the road ahead, his knuckles turning white from how hard he was gripping the steering wheel, and here I was pouring water onto oil.
"Ever heard of the saying if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all?" he questioned, his eyes still fixed on the road.
"I'm one of the nicest people you'll ever meet," I gestured to all of me.
"That's a good one, wouldn't believe it if I was dead drunk," his knuckles were finally regaining their normal colour, which means he is finally calming down.
"Whatever floats your boat honey," maybe if he didn't take my last red bull or if he replaced it, maybe in that universe, we could be friends. For now I want to stay as away as possible or be as annoying I can be.
"Don't call me honey," he was annoyed at this point, his brows furrowed together, probably thinking of something else to say.
"Oh, it annoys you? I'm sorry honey," at this point he's gonna leave me on the side of the road like a lost puppy. Would I care? Probably, but would also find another way to get to my destination "Can we put One Direction on?"
"Never, not in my car," he just me down as quickly as he could, "My car my rules."
"You are worse than Dolores," I muttered under my breath, "What is the point of me being the passenger princess, if I'm not allowed to pick songs?"
"Who established you as a passenger princess in my car?" Gavi questioned quickly looking at me then back to the road. This time I didn't make a comment about where his eyes should be.
"Don't tell me you have a girl that tolerates you?" A snort escaped my mouth before I could keep it under control, my palm was over my mouth in a second. He just nodded his head sideways.
After another ten minutes, Camp nou finally came into view. Never been more happy to arrive at destination, to finally be free from Gavis direct company and his loud breathing.
"I can't believe we're finally here, I never thought we'd make it," I exaggerated a little bit,
"Oh for fucks sake, my driving isn't that bad," he unbuckled his seatbelt and me doing the same, we slowly made our way to the doors, showing our passes to the security guard there.
"Could be better," the words finally left my mouth now that we were past security, because I definitely didn't want to go through security alone. Some of those were scary and I don't like explaining myself.
"Fuck you," he mumbled and went to the locker room.
"Be my guest," a sigh left my mouth and I decided to go find Dolores. She was sitting on a bench looking at her tablet, probably some new exercises for the players. She was supposed to keep up with this more than Kardashians.
"There you are!" I smiled and sat next to her and looked at the pitch. The only one missing was Gavi but it wasn't long till he joined his team mates, of course he had to hug Pedri because they haven't seen each other in twelve hours. Separation anxiety.
"How was the car ride with you super best friend?" She looked at me and raised her right eyebrow. Dolores always did that when she wanted to know something or was implying something, in this case it was both.
"It was great," it could be better but I'm not the one with drivers license so.
"Than why do you look like you would rather be dead?"
"My day didn't start so good," I started, looking down at the ground, "So I think something bad will happen."
"Wasn't driving with Gavi here bad enough?" Dolores laughed a little standing up, "I'm going to my supervisor, where are you seating during the match?"
"Still deciding, probably in the lounge," we hugged and I decided to see Pedri before the match.
"Pedro González López!" He turned his head in my direction with a smile plastered on his face, and he made his way to me and hugged me.
"Sorry about the car ride with Gavi," I smiled.
"It's okay, I survived,"
"You better get to your seat before people start coming in,"
"Good luck," I hugged him again and went to my seat.
It was twenty minutes into the game, I was on the edge of my seat as they had a few opportunities to score but missed my millimetres. I watched Gavi move on the field, his anger issues showing here and then when players from the other team pissed him off on purpose. This boy really need some anger management issues.
In these two years I could probably learn a thing or two about football, a few basics here and then, but the most important thing is that I'm here to support my brother. Everyone stopped, whistle was heard and everyone was gathering around someone laying on the ground.
I could see Dolores up there with the medic team and when some of the players moved, I could finally see who was laying on the ground.
It was Pedri.
