9. AVA

The end of august came, and with that school starts in two days but the most important thing? Back to school party. We convinced Pedri to be the designated driver, which also took a few days of convincing. Dolores and I were matching tonight, both of us wearing white crop tops and black jeans.

"Be safe, okay?" Pedri was acting like I was going out for the first time in my life.

"Always," I replied taking Loris' hand and walking towards the club. Adela texted me a few minutes ago, to let me know she was already in the club at our reserved table. Loud music soon filled my ears, and my heart rate adjusted to the beat of the music.

Adela was sitting at the table with a large bucket, probably filled with a mix of cocktails, and a few straws were pointed out of it. Dolores already had a smile plastered on her face, if I had to spend one hour with her parents, I'd probably get blackout drunk.

"Hey girls!" Adela screamed out, hugging me and then Dolores. With her, this night is going to be unforgettable, she was always down to partying, but parties before school? Her all-time favourites.

An hour later another bucket of the mix was in front of us, Dolores was starting to giggle a lot which gave her tipsiness away. Adela and I weren't that far behind, the cocktails and champagne always got me drunk the fastest.

"We order one more and hit the dance floor after?" Adela asked, and I nodded in agreement. No way in hell am I going to the dance floor sober or just a little tipsy. My eyes wandered across the club, rainbow lights shining across different parts of the club, music blasting through the speakers on the highest volume.

My gaze lingered a little longer on the bar close to our table, or rather someone. His brown hair in a quiff style, a smile plastered on his face as he was talking to a guy next to him. Fingers snapped in front of my face, which also broke me out of the haze I was in.

"What?" I asked annoyed, taking a sip of the alcohol.

"A minute longer and you would start drooling," Dolores said, looking from me to the guy I was eyeing earlier.

"He's hot, you should definitely smash that," Adela said bluntly.

"You absolutely should, he is hot," Lori agreed, "Go talk to him."

"Not drunk enough, just fifteen minutes and I'll go," I assured her, taking a sip of the cocktail.

"It's been more than fifteen minutes." Adela reminded me, and I have enough courage to go talk to that guy. A sigh escaped my mouth, taking one more sip of the cocktail and making my way to the bar. I glanced in his direction, and our eyes met. My heart started pounding even faster as if there was a race to win. I am definitely not drunk enough for this.

"You're so fine, you made me forget my pickup line," the words left my mouth before I could process them, what a stupid pickup line. Even Gavi could probably come up with a better one, and that is saying a lot.

"I hope you know CPR because you are taking my breath away," he replied with a pickup line and smiled showing his teeth. What a beautiful smile.

"I don't but my cousin does, but she's drunk so it won't be efficient," what the fuck am I saying?

"Nicco," he laughed a little.

"Ava,"

"Nice to meet you, let me buy you a drink," he said, looking for a bartender. "What will you have?"

"Sex on the beach,"

"Woah, let me buy you dinner first," we laughed together, and then we finally ordered and got our drinks.

Time passed by, and we got to know each other quite well. He's a year older and starting university soon, likes football, especially Barcelona. Gets a bonus point from Pedri. In that time I drowned way too many cocktails, which also started affecting my mind.

"It was nice meeting you, call me anytime for that dinner," he winked and walked away. I decided to go check on Dolores and Adela, who were still at the table.

"Tell us everything," was the first thing I heard as I sat down.

"I got his number, nothing much to tell," I slurred, taking another sip of my drink.

Another hour or two passed when I decided to call Pedri, but it wasn't him who picked up the phone.

"You are not Pedwi,"

"Great observation, it's Gavi,"

"Yes I know, I am not that dumb." Or maybe I am, "Can you come pick us up?"

"Yeah, we'll be there," great now all I need is to own Gavira a favour, fucking amazing.

Dolores and I barely made it out of the club and were soon greeted with my favourite brother and my least favourite person in the whole world. I made my way to the passenger seat and Dolores went into the backseat. Pedri joined her, and Gavi sat at the steering wheel.

Or nah started playing on the radio, I turned the volume up and a groan escaped Pedris mouth as he heard which song it was.

"Is we fucking when we leave the club, or nah?" I sang to the music, and for a split second Gavi turned to me with a weird look.

"Eyes on the road please," was the last thing before I dozed out.

"You carry her, she's your sister,"

"I already have my hands full with Dolores," I heard another voice, I just wanna sleep is that so hard to understand?

"Fine, you owe me one," I heard Gavira say, and suddenly I was swept up from my seat. When did we even get home?

"If you drop me, I'm suing," I mumbled against his throat.

"Sure you are princess," he fired back.

I was laid down on my bed, Gavira took my shoes off and put a blanket over me. I nuzzled into my cozy blanket and turned onto my left side.

"Thank you," I mumbled before dozing off again.
