8. AVA

"Ava González López!" I heard Pedri yell from downstairs, and I just want the earth to open up and swallow me.

Not a minute after that, the door made a sound and I just rolled my eyes. "Knocking is a thing you know?"

"It's my house,"

"Cher could own it, and I would still ask the same thing," I have a feeling where he is going with this, but all I wanted to do was avoid the outside world until school starts again. Today is not the day I deal with Gavira and other teammates, no way, would rather climb up from hell.

"You haven't left the house in what? Four days? As your brother, I am deeply concerned about you,"

"That sounded sarcastic, please be nicer I have a fragile soul," I threw a blanket over my head to avoid his glare. I am perfectly fine with being inside all day, could be in my room for two weeks and not mind.

"C'mon, you're going to practice with me," he said sternly, pulling the blanket from me which I was holding on to for dear life. "Start acting your age, I also have a large red bull in the fridge for you."

Not the bribery with red bull, maybe I should find a new addiction. Everyone knows about this one, and my self-control isn't that strong.

"Okay," I caved in and got up from my bed, which will be missed deeply. Pedri hugged me and left me alone in the room to change.

Five minutes later and I was ready with a Barca jersey with my name and number. Today I am supporting myself for leaving my room after four days.

Pedri was already waiting for me in the car, but the only thing that matters is the large red bull I opened as soon as I got into his car.

"Have you thought about buying a new car?" I broke the silence after a few minutes.

"Why?" He asked back. Sometimes I think Pedri is adopted, how hard is it to have a normal conversation?

"All your teammates are driving fancy cars, and then there is you with a Mini," I expressed my thoughts out loud.

"Are you embarrassed because you are in a Mini?" He shot a new question back. "I never thought much of it, and I love my green rocket. Dolores is spoiling you with her Mercedes."

"I am not embarrassed and Dolores is not spoiling me," I defended myself, at least he has a big imagination I'll give him that. "Maybe you can get a new car and save this one for me when I get my driving license."

"Please get realistic, whoever is gonna give you a license will have a fat wallet then," he laughed and I punched him on his side.

"Are you saying I am too dumb to get a driving license?" How dare he? I am capable of getting my license, next year when I'm old enough.

"If you put it that way, then yes," the best brother award definitely goes to Pedri.

"I want a new brother, is it too late for a refund?"

"You'll still have Fernando,"

"Please, I am used to two brothers, not one," I replied taking a long sip of the red bull, and turning the volume on the radio up.

"Shut it down," he said as soon as he recognised the music.

"You uncultured swine, we are not shutting One Direction down," I replied and put it on even higher volume. Pedri let out a sigh of defeat and we listened to One Direction the rest of the way to Camp Nou.

Dolores has today off and she has to spend the day with her parents, and I have to sit on this bench all alone. Today is torture for both of us. How is sitting here and watching practice better than being in my room and binging on The big bang theory? Pedri and his logic never made sense.

"Glad to see you're doing well," the one and only Pablo Gavira decided to talk to me, and sit next to me, willingly. Now would be the perfect time for the earth to swallow me.

"I am not on speaking terms with you," the words barely escaped my mouth, I am not in the mood for him and his games today.

"Princesa you always say that," a smile was plastered on his face, and it took me all of my self-control to not just punch him in the face.

"Aren't you supposed to be practicing? Not just sit around and make small talk," a smirk was visible on my face.

"I took a break, had to see if you'd apologize," the optimism in his voice could be heard from Madrid.

"Why should I apologize? I didn't do anything, you should be the one saying sorry,"

"You made an elephant out of a fly," I rolled my eyes at this comment, stood up, and walked along the pitch.

"Maybe, but you said my life is boring," I said, turning my head around to see if he was following me. Sadly, he did.

"Did I stutter?" He asked as he caught up with me, and walked alongside me. I had the perfect opportunity to trip him but don't want to ruin his football career.

"I don't recall, but knowing you? You probably did," my patience is leaving my body every time he decides to speak.

"I have an idea, you go back to your teammates and leave me alone in peace. Sounds like the perfect plan if you ask me," I gave him a fake smile.

He ran a hand through his hair and ruffled it up. I could do that too, but way harder and would drag him across the pitch.

"When can I expect my apology?" He asked confidently, and I just wanted to wipe that smile off his face.

"Never," I simply replied. "Maybe I'll drag you across the pitch by your hair."

"Would like to see you try, you're like 150cm?" He laughed a little, and I am not in the mood.

"It's actually 160cm," I said grabbing him by his hair. Moans of pain escaped his mouth as his hands overlapped mine, trying to free himself. "I told you what would happen."

"Ava!" Ferran shouted and was next to me in a second, pulling me away from Gavira, who was now clutching onto his hair. A death glare was sent in my direction, and I gave an even deadlier glare back.

"Someone tell Pedri that I should have stayed in my bed," I huffed and fixed my hair, mocking Gavira.

"Pedri, get your sister to her bed!" Ferran called to him, and I was mentally preparing for another lecture from him.

The car ride was silent, a random radio station was on and I didn't dare change it. I quickly sent Dolores a text with some details so she won't miss anything. As soon as we came home, I ran to my bed and went under the blanket.

"We are not doing this shit again." He said as he entered my room, and again without knocking. "This was unacceptable, I had to apologize to Gavi instead of you. You are not wasting the day in your room, I challenge you to Fifa. The winner gets a piggyback ride."

"Fine," I said getting up, not in the mood to argue or potentially piss him off.

"I already have my club set up," Pedri said, passing me the controller.

"Did you leave me Neymar and Messi?" I asked and he nodded his head yes.

We started our Fifa tournament, and I was leading but Pedri beat me in the last few minutes. So here I am with back pain because I had to give him a piggyback ride.

"I want a rematch," and with that, we started a second match to determine who is the real winner.

"Yes, I get a piggyback ride!" I yelled standing on the couch, waiting for the ride. Pedri rolled his eyes, and carried me through the whole house and then outside.

"Don't you dare!" I screamed as I saw he was heading towards the poll. I clutched onto Pedri with all the strength I could handle, and as a result, we both ended up in the poll.

We both started laughing, the day started badly but my favourite brother was here to make it all better.
