THE GROUP HAD SPLIT into duos

THE GROUP HAD SPLIT into duos. They consisted of one fast runner, who would get a small amount of points, and one slow runner, who would get a large amount of points. This was so that if the duos were split, they would both have good chances of survival. However, the aim was for the duos to hold hands and battle together – ultimately having a high rate of success.

Akuji wished she was out there, helping; being an active participant in the decision for her survival. Sadly, she was ordered guard the base with Tatta. Purely because of her age.

Tatta and Akuji both had the smallest number of points possible. This was because they could easily get an infinite amount of points by touching the base's pole if needed.

"This is boring." Akuji said after what seemed like hours of silence, although it was most likely only a few minutes.

"I agree." Tatta sighed.

Akuji scoffed as she began to pace around the pole in annoyance and boredom, "Do they really think I suck because of my age? I've survived this far, haven't I? I mean, I can do that easily!" She pointed at the large display screen, which told everyone that the Citizens team had secured yet again another item. They were way ahead in the lead.

"Alright, you guys!" Tatta exclaimed and Akuji looked up to see the rest of the group entering the base, planning to reset their status and keep playing.

"Things are going great so far." Arisu said happily, unable to fight the smile off of his face.

"This is a King game? Don't make me laugh." Niragi gloated.

Clapping her hands in delight, Akuji smiled wide, "I'm very proud of all of you! We're sure to win."

"Don't get your hopes up too high." Kuina told her although she was beaming just as big and nodding.

Cheering for them, Tatta ran up to the group and high fived them all. Akuji supposed that even though he wasn't helpful in any game aspect way that helped them survive, he was good for morale.

"Pretty crazy to think," Kuina said as she held her hand up in his direction, "But I almost forgot you're one of the bad guys, Niragi."

Niragi high fived Kuina then did the same with Arisu. Then, he turned to Akuji and smirked at her, "Do you want one?"

The girl giggled like a ditzy schoolgirl – like the person he clearly thought she was – before high fiving him particularly hard. She smiled sickily sweet at him, pretending to be friendly. In reality, she did not trust Niragi at all. It would be stupid for her to trust a man who had killed an entire group of people, especially when she hadn't known him for longer than an hour. But she had a part to play.

"So," Akuji said, moving swiftly on, "did you learn anything?"

"They split the points evenly." Arisu informed her and the rest of his teammates. "2,000 each. Kyuma said he and his group were equals. We need to keep the pressure on, and find more items if we can."

"Let me come with you, I can be useful!" Akuji pleaded.

"Not with 100 points." Usagi returned.

"Let me be with a duo, then." Akuji replied.

Arisu shook his head and Akuji had to respect his decision because he was the clear leader of the team. "We need you and Tatta to stay here and guard the base."

With that, the team renewed their points and exited, leaving Tatta and Akuji stood at the base, feeling bored. But not for long.

Suddenly, Akuji saw something weird. And it wasn't weird because he was naked (she respected his freedom), but because why the hell was Kyuma over here? Wait. Why the hell was all of them over here?

One hand firmly planted on the pole, Akuji watched them with suspicion. Tatta was on his feet immediately, too, a hand on the base as well.

"Why are you here?" Tatta demanded.

"We're here so we can win." Kyuma responded.

Then, they all started running.

"Protect the base!" Akuji screamed. She wrapped her body around the pole, lessening the amount of pole her opponents could touch and use to win. She spotted Isuma heading straight toward her. Akuji attempted to kick the girl away but Isuma ducked underneath it and even though Akuji threw a punch her way, Isuma still touched the pole — gaining points.

There was the sound of two other people touching the pole. Looking around in confusion, Akuji realised her surface area method had stopped one of them from touching the pole and Tatta had touched another: Shitara.

"The King of Clubs team is now leading by 4,000 points. One player on the King of Clubs team has had their score fall below zero." The screen announced.

Nobody moved for a few moments. It was silent.

Eventually, Akuji let go of the pole and shoved the rest off of it, too, knowing she would be okay as they were all invalid players at the moment. Then, she watched as Shitara took a step back.

"You picked me?" He asked Tatta in disbelief. He looked over at his teammates and nodded solemnly, "You better use this to win. If I die in vain, I'm gonna beat the shit out of you in the afterlife."

"You were my good friend." Kyuma told him, tears pricking in his eyes, "I'll never forget what you did for us."

"It is game over for the player." The announcer said — and then the laser shot through Shitara's skull.

AUTHOR NOTES
i rlly wanted akuji to be out there with a duo being a badass but i knew it wouldnt make sense for everyone to just be like ok!! let's bring this schoolgirl into danger even though she has a better chance of survival with infinite points!! none of them would agree for her to be with a duo lol.
