"WE DID EVERYTHING WE could." Akuji finished telling the group what had happened, dejected, after they had returned.
"I can't believe they sacrificed a member of their team," Arisu sighed, shaking his head with doubt, "Now, three of them have 10,000 points each."
Niragi tutted and walked over to Tatta, flicking the brim of his hat in a cruel manner, "Couldn't even guard one pole, huh? You're fucking useless. Trash is always gonna be trash, you piece of shit."
"Hey!" Akuji exclaimed, rushing to her feet to confront Niragi, "At least he tried. He did the best he could."
"The best he could?" Niragi repeated with a scoff, "If you get a chance to kill one of them, you kill Kyuma! I bet all he did was cry and sniffle."
Akuji glared at him, stepping in front of Tatta to protect him, "If you're going to blame somebody, blame me. I didn't even kill anyone!"
Akuji felt extremely guilty. Why hadn't she tagged anyone? She'd been stupid; stupid to think she'd actually be able to do anything. All of this - everything she'd done, everything she'd sacrificed - was for nothing. They were way behind in points and now they were going to die.
"It's not that, Niragi, we underestimated them. He was nice and we got sucked in. We forgot the most important thing: Kyuma is the King of Clubs. We're gambling with our lives. They're prepared to die. They've just shown us that. If we don't do something, we're all finished." Arisu stated.
"There's some items left," Akuji suggested, "Maybe we can find all those if we're lucky."
"It's a good idea but I doubt they'll make much of a difference." Kuina told her bitterly.
Arisu glanced over at the screen that displayed the scores for each team. The Player team had 24,500 points whereas the Clubs team had 28,500. Arisu told the group, "There's only an hour left on the clock. The only way we'll turn this around is if we attack their base."
"We can't attack it if they're defending it." Niragi pointed out.
"Maybe someone can be a distraction and they can lead one or more of them away. We have a better chance then. Who's the fastest?" Akuji asked.
Usagi raised her hand, "That'd be me."
"That's a great idea, Akuji." Arisu beamed at her before turning to his friend, "Usagi, you'll get the attention of someone on the Clubs team and you'll lead them away, giving us a chance to attack their base."
"Tatta should come, too," Akuji stated but as soon as she said those words, he whimpered and turned around, curling himself into a ball.
She glared at him for a moment, barely able to hold her tongue. He was so pathetic in her eyes. So what that he killed someone? Everyone kills people to survive nowadays. He had to get over it so that he could help them survive. Tatta was weak.
"It's okay, we don't need him." Arisu told the group with a shake of his head, "We just need two people to get 10,000 points each and we can still win. The thing is, we need to stop being afraid. We need to believe in the plan! Everyone will attack the base except for Tatta and Akuji - you two will stay here - and Usagi will distract one of them."
"It's too risky. You can't throw away your lives like that!" Tatta protested.
Niragi scoffed, "You're not even going to be doing anything. You're throwing our lives away just by sitting there - you're worthless."
Arisu interrupted him before he could say more and once again, everyone turned to listen to him, "It doesn't matter if we're throwing away our lives because if we don't go, we're dead and that's it. If we want to win, we have to take a risk. You're all my teammates and my friends. I don't want any of us to die, but I would risk my life to save yours!"
"Well, I'm in." Niragi shrugged, "Not because of all that mushy shit. I'm not the kind of guy to let fear get in my way."
Usagi nodded, becoming more brave now, "I want to win. Okay, I'm in."
Kuina let out a chuckle, "Then it's sorted. I can't let you take all the glory."
And with that, the four of them left.
Tatta was still sat on the floor, huddled into a small figure with his knees to his chest. Akuji looked up at the display screen - now they only had 45 minutes left. She figured she might be able to collect a few items to help turn the tide since all of the Club members would be defending their base.
"Hey, I'm gonna look for some items, are you coming?" Akuji asked Tatta. He shook his head and she rolled her eyes with a scoff, "Really? You're not even going to try? You have so much points, you're basically invincible. Honestly, it's really pathetic. I didn't want to say in front of anyone because I'd look bad, but Niragi is right. You really are worthless."
Tatta stared at her for a few moments in surprise before furrowing his eyebrows, glaring at her, "You don't know anything about me!"
"I don't need to. We only need you for your car and bracelet, that's it. But now we have your car and we can leave in it if we win. But your bracelet is attached to you, which is a shame, really. You're so pathetic that I'd tell you to just get your life over and done with but if you do that, we lose our precious points. If only there was a way to get rid of you and keep your points..." Akuji finished thoughtfully, twirling a piece of hair around their finger as they left the base, not sparing a glance in Tatta's direction to see the impact of her words.
