Chapter 6

[Eric had gotten John Smith's message, and he and Ariel absolutely agreed to grant all of them sanctuary. Eric and Ariel got everything ready for their arrival, and that afternoon everyone arrived. All of the people were found temporary homes, and John Smith would be staying with them in his regular guest bedroom that he always stayed in]
{At the docks}
Eric: We got him, thank you, John
John Smith: Eric
(They clasped their left hands together and held onto each other's left forearm)
Eric: It's good to see you
John Smith: It's good to see you too
(They pull away)
Eric: It's been a good long while
John Smith: Too long if I do say so myself
Eric: I agree, what happened to you?
John Smith: It's a long story
Eric: Let's go inside
John Smith: Thank you for the help
Eric: You don't even have to ask, my friend
[Eric, Grimbsy, Loui, and two other workers help carry the carrier where John Smith laid and brought it inside and up the stairs to John Smith's guest room]
{Inside John Smith's guest room}
(They all help John Smith get into bed and then leave Eric and him alone)
John Smith: Thank you again, Eric
Eric: You're welcome, now, I want to hear everything
John Smith: I'll tell you every last detail
Eric: But first, I want to introduce you to someone
John Smith: Alright
(Eric leaves and after a few minutes comes back)
Eric: Ok, come in, my love
(Ariel comes in and smiles)
Ariel: Hello, John Smith, I've heard a lot about you
John Smith: Uh-oh
(Everyone laughs and John Smith chuckles since he couldn't laugh that much. Eric pulls up two chairs and he and Ariel sit beside John Smith)
Eric: John, this is Ariel, my betrothed
John Smith: It's nice to meet you, Ariel
Ariel: Likewise
John Smith: So how did you two meet?
(Ariel and Eric look at each other and Eric chuckles while Ariel giggles)
Eric: You wouldn't believe us even if we told you
John Smith: You wanna bet, try me
Eric: Well, it started on my birthday
(He tells him the story)
<after a while>
John Smith: Wow, so, merpeople, sea witches, and magic. Now that's a combination
Ariel: I knew you wouldn't believe us
John Smith: Who says I don't? I've seen some things myself
Eric: Alright, tell us your story then
John Smith: Well, the story starts on my voyage to the new world
(He tells them everything that happened)
<after the whole story>
Eric: Wow, well, I'm glad that this woman changed you for the better
John Smith: Yeah, me too
Ariel: John, you'll see, everything will get resolved, and then you'll be able to go back to her
John Smith: I hope so because I can't live without her
Eric: Damn, love hit you hard
(John Smith chuckles)
John Smith: Yeah, it did
Eric: It always comes down to a woman
John Smith: You got that right, I wish I could go back and be with her or send her letters but I'd be putting her, her people, and the other settlers in danger. Radcliffe will stop at nothing to get the war he wants against the Natives, to eliminate as many of them as possible, and to get his hands on me
Ariel: I'm sorry John, we know it must be hard to be away from the woman you love. I know that I would hate it if I was kept away from Eric. What can we do to help?
John Smith: You're already doing enough by granting the others and myself sanctuary. You're actually putting yourselves at risk. I just thank GOD that Radcliffe doesn't know too much about my personal life
Eric: We'd do it anytime, you're my best friend and my brother
John Smith: I feel the same way, my friend
Ariel: Get some rest, John
John Smith: Thank you, hey, can you do me a favor?
Eric: Of course, anything
John Smith: Can I get parchment sheets and an ink bottle? Even if I can't send the letters, I want to write them
Ariel: Of course, I'll bring them to you
John Smith: Thank you
Eric: Anytime
(They leave and then Ariel brings him parchment sheets, envelopes, a quill, something for support, and an ink bottle. After he thanks her, Ariel leaves, closing the door behind her, and John Smith starts to write to Pocahontas)
