Jahnes eyes blinked open as she tried to push past the splinting headache that made her want to shut them again.
Groaning, her eyes finally fully opened to see everything was upside down. Realization hit her that she in fact was the one upside down when she looked to see the ground below her and her foot hanging by a rope above her.
"What the fuck" Jahne whispered to herself.
Who would set up a trap in the jungle and why did she have to be the one to fall into it...or up it?
Panic began to set in when Jahne turned her head to look at the sky through the trees and realized it was no longer light outside.
Had anyone come looking for her? She doubted that if they had they would have found her with her not being able to call out for help while unconscious and with how high she was in the tree.
She was out here alone...but not really alone. The predators were up and out, ready to find their next meal and she would be damned if she was going to be it. Fight or flight set in as Jahne turned her head to see how she could possibly climb up the rope she was hanging on and at least get to a tree branch.
She quickly dismissed the idea and thought about trying to swing her body closer to the base of the tree where there was a lower hanging branch right across from her that looked strong enough to hold her weight.
Using all the strength she could muster; Jahne rolled her body and threw it to one side hoping she had enough momentum to swing to the base.
After a few good swings she was getting closer and closer, she'd just had to push a little harder and she'd be there.
On the fourth swing Jahne could almost cry tears of joy when she was able to grab the base of the tree. Now all she would need to do was get to the branch.
Slowly Jahne moved her body carefully across the base so as not to accidentally let go and have to start over. Jahne closed her eyes breathing a sigh of relief when she finally reached the branch.
As Jahne opened her eyes again to finish her mission to get onto the branch a scream of terror screeched out of her mouth, and she hurriedly pushed her body away from the tree when she came face to face with glowing yellow eyes and black fur, missing the swipe of sharp claws by a millisecond.
Fear rippled through Jahnes body as the wild cat continuously tried to swipe at her as her body swung wildly back and forth. Jahne closed her eyes and sent a quick prayer up to God to make it through this terrifying ordeal. The more her body swung the closer she got each time to the cats claws.
"Be a nice kitty and don't eat me, please" Jahne cried out as tried to stop her body from swinging closer to the big cat. Jahne could see the big cat pull its shoulders together and lean the top part of its body down.
"Oh no, kitty wanna jump" Jahne cried out again as realization hit her. The cat was tired of playing with its food and was ready to eat its dinner. The big cat was preparing its body to jump on Jahne.
Suddenly Jahne felt her body being holstered up along with the rope that previously had her hanging upside down and thrown onto a hard surface of a tree branch. Opening one eye to peak, afraid that the panther had somehow gotten her onto the branch all she could see in front of her was muscular legs in a crouched position of attack turned away from her.
Opening both eyes she looked up the body, seeing the familiar long hair, the only way to identify her wild man as he faced off with the panther that wanted her for dinner.
Shocked Jahnes mouth hung open and she starred at the man's athletic naked form as he stood ready to save her for the second time. This man damn sure had perfect timing. She didn't understand why the man was risking his life for her for a second time, but she'd never been more grateful.
