Jahne's body was lifted from its position on the ground. Confusion filled Jahne's mind only second to fear. Something wasn't right. She should have felt her body getting mauled, tossed around, something other than being gently held.

Jahne squeezed her eyes closed repeatedly whispering, please don't kill me. Instead of feeling a gorilla's rough hands and fur, Jahne felt the rough callouses of human hands as they rubbed soothing circles against her skin. Jahne peeked one eye open and came face to face with her wild man.

Relief filled her body as Jahne threw her arms around his neck, tightly hugging the man to her. She was sure the silverback had killed him. Confused as to where the silverback was and if he was still alive, Jahne whipped her head around wildly and for the second time, she made eye contact with the animal.

It was side-eyeing her from a safe distance away before it grunted and turned, walking on all fours into the tall grass and finding a spot where the grass seemed to naturally flatten. It looked at the couple once more before turning its back to them and laying down.

For the first time since the incident began, Jahne began to breathe normally again. She turned back to Tarzan to see him looking at the silverback with sad eyes before he cast those sorrow-filled eyes down at her. She felt some sort of guilt for reasons unknown to her like she'd caused some divide between man and beast.

He stared into her eyes as he held her tightly in his arms not seeming as if he planned to put her down anytime soon. For a second, Jahne felt as if she had forgotten how to breathe. When he looked at her that way.

Her chest tightened only releasing when he released her eyes from his hold after looking away. He began to take steps away from the chaotic scene that once was and approached one of the tall thick trees.

Jahne again caught his eyes before he shifted them up as if to tell her something or give her a sign of what he planned to do next. Jahne's only guess was that the man planned to climb said tree, so she tightened the hold she had around his neck.

Soon after, she felt him release his hold on her back as he grabbed hold of the tree and began to climb. It was beyond Jahne that this man could so easily climb a tree with her attached to him like she didn't add an extra 155 pounds onto his already 200-plus pounds.

Not wanting to see how high he was taking them in the tree Jahne focused on the way he easily scaled the tree with one arm. She watched the muscles flex in the moonlight with each movement. The way his jaw would clench as he concentrated on his task of holding her while climbing.

Looking up Jahne saw that above them was some structure. Knitting her eyebrows together, Jahne saw that the structure looked like a treehouse. Who and why would someone have built a treehouse out here, Jahne wondered to herself.

She knew Tarzan probably had not done it because how would he know how and where would he have gotten the tools? No, it had to have been built by someone else but why?

When they reached the treehouse Tarzan placed her on the open platform. The structure looked sturdy but old as if it had been some time since someone had used it. The planks of wood formed the square structure with one spot in the middle that was covered by long vines.

It looked to be the entrance which didn't give Jahne much comfort with its openness. Any creature could just walk through the vines, but she tried her best not to think about it too much. One thing at a time, Jahne thought to herself.

Jahne walked towards the opening, pulling the strong vines aside and looking inside to see that it had indeed belonged to someone else based on the belongings that were left behind.

A pallet of wool blankets was in a corner, an open suitcase where men's and women's clothes were hanging out, a few pots and pans, and a handmade table and stools.

Shocked by the dwelling space Jahne turned around to see Tarzan lingering at the entryway, allowing her to look around the space. When he caught her eye one word left his mouth.

"Home" he spoke in that deep, low, and raspy voice. Nodding her head in understanding Jahne glanced around again before repeating the word back.

"Home" Jahne whispered to herself before looking back to Tarzan who had moved away from the doorway. As he walked past her Jahne couldn't take her eyes off the doorway. Fear began to creep its way back into her as she thought about the possibility of more near-death experiences.

She knew she'd gotten lucky to have been protected at this point three times from an animal attack, but she felt like her luck was running out. Out in the darkness, the biggest and most terrifying roamed around looking for their next meal and she just happened to be one of the tastiest.
