Hazel eyes scanned the area for signs of life when he opened the door of the hotel room, but what he saw instead made his blood run cold.

It was dark, cold and gloomy. Maes could practically feel the remnants of the fight looming in the air. A heavy death that was not dispelled by a meager flip of a light switch.

The light revealed so much more than darkness ever could. With more sight he could see exactly what had transpired after he left. Or at least hazard a guess.

If Maes had not seen what the room had looked like beforehand he would have had no idea that a romantic seduction had ever taken place. Well…nothing ever began so it was more like a thought that was lost to the wind.

All because of him. Of the things he said.

He saw the overflowing trash can at the foot of the bed. As he walked closer his eyes caught specks of glass still littered across the floorboards. Rose petals, cracked candles, glass, paper towels with blood as well as a few other things lay scattered in the tin.

Maes sighed when he saw the outfit Hitoshi had been wearing under his clothes laying in a heap on the bed as well as the suit underneath. His eyes traveled to the end of the bed where his breathing became erratic and his eyes turned into a widened wet mess.

"No…" He shakily whispered, reaching with a careful curious hand as if it was a ferocious creature ready to bite him. Pointer and middle finger touched the casing shakily. His tear stained face gazing away in shame at what he had done.

But the damage was already done. what he needed to do now was to repair the seeping wound. If it could be fixed. He brought out his phone, preying Toshi would answer the phone.

Maes gasped to look behind him as the familiar sound of a ringtone chirped upon the dresser drawers. He left his phone behind.

Maes thoughts about him never returning were quashed when he heard the click of the lock and the creak of the handle opening to reveal a bush of tousled and bushy purple hair.

If you looked up the word agony in the dictionary Maes was pretty sure Toshi's picture would be next to it.

Maes had to fix this. Somehow, some way. He stood there waiting for Toshi to notice him. And when he did-

Hitoshi saw him and froze in his tracks with the door still open with his hand resting over the knob. He saw Maes gaze in his general direction and cast his eyes downward. The grip on the handle tightened, his face scrunched up. At least he had cleaned the room beforehand.

"I'll just, grab my phone." He said coming inside the room. He was a bit surprised to see him here at all but he didn't say anything. Didn't want to give him the satisfaction, or the knowledge that he was hurting.

He had to get out of here and fast before his resolve withered away.

"I know an apology won't be able to fix things between us." He heard Maes speak from behind him. "Trying to woo and court you right now won't do much either. But damn it all, I was such a fool Toshi!"

He stopped cold at the nickname, and at the pain in the other man's voice.

"I saw her and my mind blanked but that's no excuse for the way I treated you. It doesn't condone my actions or my poor choice of words."

Shinso didn't dare look back, for he was afraid he would give in once he saw the anguish that Maes' voice was clearly broadcasting. But he was angry and he wanted to get the fire out of his chest before there was no bite to it anymore.

"Did you come back here with your tail between your legs when she refused to have sex with you? Is that what this is Maes huh? Well you can go fuck off! I'm not going to be your last resort. Or sloppy seconds."
