Midnight skateboarding

You are lying in bed and thinking about something you can do because you are bored as hell. It's 23:18 so everyone is sleeping and you don't want to wake up anyone so you are just lying. When you give up and decide that you gonna try to sleep your phone rings with a notification

Hi Y/n. Are you awake?

Yeah, why?

Max doesn't reply to this so you just turn your phone off and turn to the other side

After ten minutes of boring laying on your bed you hear something. You ignore it because you think that it is only your head and you are turning crazy but then you hear it again

You get up and go to the only window of the room. You look out and see Max. You open the window and look at Max

Max lifts into the air her skateboard and smirks at you

"Wanna ride?" she says

You don't think twice you shut your window and rush to your closet. You take your hoodie on. From Max of course. And your skateboard and run downstairs quickly but quietly to make sure that everyone is still sleeping

Max has been your best friend since she came to Hawkins. You two got really close and you have a huge crush on her. Only Nancy knows about it because she is like your older sister. When is something happening she is the first person who knows about it. She was there for you when you were younger. You like Max for so long and you get nervous every time she is around. Your cheeks turn red and you don't know what to say. By the time you got used to it and learnt how to control it...okay maybe not BUT it's better than before

When you get out and close the door you put your skateboard down and jump on Max

"You are a lifesaver" you say

With that hug, you can feel that Max is a little frozen and nervous but you think that it is just because you caught her by surprise

"Yeah yeah i know" she says and pulls back a little

You understand that movement and pull back too. You grab your skate and start walking

Max follows you and when you are on the road you drop your skateboards and go to your favourite place for skateboarding

It's almost midnight so no one is driving here so it's quiet. Only your wheels can be heard and you feel your hair flying around you

You look at Max. She has her typical sweatshirt and her hair is flying in the air too. You are looking at her and she feels that

"Look forward idiot" she says not looking at you

You ignore her and smile

"No Y/n. I am serious" she says and this time she looks at you

You listen to her and look forward. You see that in front of you is grass and you need to stop here and walk to 'your place'

Of course, you don't have time to stop so you fall off your skateboard. It isn't that bad fall but it still hurts

Max stops her skate and runs to you. She kneels down next to you and makes sure that you are okay

"I told you to look forward Y/n" she says and helps you up

You stand up with her little help and clean your clothes

"I know" you say quietly and obviously mad

"Come on, don't be mad Y/n. You are just...idiot that's all" she says and chuckles a little

You look at her with a death stare "take it back" you say still looking at her

"No" she says and takes a few little steps backwards

"No? What do you mean no?" You say and take a few steps closer to Max

"I said take it back!!" You say and this is the point when Max starts running away from you and you start to chase her

You eventually catch her and take her by her waist to the air and spin her a few times

"I said take it back redhead" you say as you put her down

"Okay okay i am sorry" Max says

"That doesn't sound convincing at all" you say

Max just smirks at you, grabs her skate and starts walking to the place

You sigh and take your skate too and follow her

When you arrive at your place you look around it is still the same as you remember. Well..you were there yesterday but that's a long time

It's an old skate park. No one is going there anymore so a year ago you took it to your hands and repaired it a little. You made lights there and repaired some ramps and added some more things and of course, cleaned the whole place

You switch on the lights above the park and drop your skateboard telling Max to do it too. She does as you asked and you start skateboarding together

After a few minutes you sit on the edge of the highest ramp and when Max sees you she goes to you and sits too

You are sitting there in comfortable silence and looking at the dark nature while the skate park is behind you

"It's amazing here" Max says

"Yeah...well that's why i repaired it here" you say making Max feel stupid

She hits your arm playfully and when she puts her hand down she puts it on yours. You look at her and then quickly away. You feel your cheeks turning red and your heartbeat rising quickly

"Y/n.." she says and attracts your attention

"I am really glad and lucky to have you. I can tell you everything and i feel comfortable with you and...i just want to say thank you. Thank you Y/n for being there for me" she says and takes your hand into hers

You feel that she squeezes your hand a little and then she lays her head down on your shoulder

You close your eyes for a moment and then you take courage and pull your shoulder away from her. Max looks at you confused but you ignore it and kiss her

You feel her grip around your hand loosen. You feel her soft lips which are warm and cold at the same time. You feel her hair slowly flying around you two because of the wind. But mostly you feel a way of relief when she kisses you back

When it is time for the air you pull out of the kiss and look deeply into her eyes. You see how soft and gentle she is with you

"..I love you Y/n. For a long time" she says not breaking the eye contact

You pull away a little and frown

"Romantic Max? What happened?" You say teasingly

With that, you earn another hit into your arm

"Shut up idiot" she says and looks back into the dark night in front of you

"That is a compliment from Max" you say and chuckle

She laughs a little too and places her head on your shoulder again. You kiss the top of her head and embrace your arm around her waist
