Jihyo’s POV

I am so wrong about it.

Nothing is normal about this dinner.

“WHAT?! You want me to marry a stranger?!”

As can be seen, things weren’t as calm as I predicted because I, Park Jihyo, did not take the news that was dropped by my parents very well after we just had dinner. It was an odd situation because my siblings weren’t here which is already a red flag and it was just my parents and I. I knew something was up but I tried to keep unnecessary thoughts behind the back of my head and suppressed the negative thoughts I had ever since I stepped into my home because I was hoping it would be a nice and normal dinner between family.

Sadly, it was nothing but a mere fantasy.

Dinner went well except for the fact my appa kept on glancing at eomma while she acted nonchalantly and ignored his suspicious stares. I tried to question his strange behavior but I refrained from doing so because I knew sooner or later they would bring up the topic they wanted to tell me and the reason behind their invitation to dinner.

Then, they dropped the fucking bomb.

They wanted me to go on a blind date they arranged with a stranger. It might seem alright to me if it is just one blind date but no! Another purpose of this was to arrange a marriage between me and that mystery man.

I paced around the living room while being watched by my parents. I could not sit still as I was still progressing with the news they just told me. I know it is a decision that eomma and appa thought about seriously before informing me of this news because they trust me to think about it earnestly as well before making a decision.

However, this is a topic about going on a blind date because they already accepted the other party and in their minds, he is good enough to be my husband which means the wedding will happen. Or something along those lines.

I don't want that!

“Dear, are you done yelling?” Eomma asked calmly as if the whole house did not just tremble at the loud voice that belonged to me while still staring at me, her daughter, who kept on pacing around the living room floor in front of her.

I was still panting from using my voice too much, “Well, hah, I’m done,” I paused to take a deep breath before sitting down again, “For now...”

Yes, keep calm Jihyo.

I saw appa wiping away the sweat that was forming on his forehead with the back of his hand and checking out his ears, probably to check and see if it was bleeding. Fortunately, it wasn’t.

His action is a bit exaggerated and overdramatic because I am not that loud that can make his ears bleed...

Appa took a deep breath and stared at me, who in his eyes resembled eomma a lot, “You don’t have to accept it immediately, Jihyo-yah,” He said, affectionately and his eyes remained as gentle as he was before, “We thought that taking the initiative to arrange a blind date for you with a partner that we approve will be better. Your eomma and I thought he is such a good match for you and while we were the ones who suggested the idea, his parents agreed to match you both up as well,”

“But, that is so outdated, appa. Wouldn’t it be better if I find a future with someone whom I choose and love truly?” I replied as it has always been my dream to live the rest of my life with someone I genuinely love. My decision to refuse this arranged marriage suggestion remained firm since the beginning as I have no interest in being with someone I don’t choose.
